DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and NVR (Network Video Recorder) are both used for video surveillance systems. The main difference between the two is how they process and store video data.
DVRs process the video data on the device itself, converting the analog video signal into a digital format for storage on a hard drive. DVRs typically connect to cameras via coaxial cable and the video is viewed through a TV or monitor.
NVRs, on the other hand, do not process video data. Instead, they rely on network cameras that have built-in video processing and compression capabilities. The video data is transmitted to the NVR over an IP network and is stored on a hard drive for later viewing.
In summary, DVRs process and store video data locally, while NVRs store video data that has been transmitted over a network.
