I freeze-dried some orange slices and, for comparison, also ran a batch through my food dehydrator. The difference is striking—one of these things is definitely not like the other.

The freeze-dried oranges are simply AMAZING! They’re light and crisp, and the flavor is so vibrant, it feels like I just picked them right off the tree. In contrast, the dehydrated oranges are a bit tougher and quite leathery, making them less convenient for snacking.

When I placed them in water, the freeze-dried oranges reconstituted almost instantly and held their shape beautifully, while I'm still waiting for most of the dehydrated ones to rehydrate.

Freeze-Dry Beetroot
