Electricity spot prices in the Visayas jumped 64.9% in August to P18.59 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), from P11.29/kWh in July, amid tighter supply and higher demand.
Mindanao posted an even steeper increase of 88.2%, with prices rising to P19.56/kWh from P10.39/kWh.
Meanwhile, Luzon spot prices fell 34.2% to P4.80/kWh from P7.30/kWh.
The higher spot market prices in the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills this month.
