At Jason Marine Tech Philippines, we take pride in ensuring that vital marine navigation equipment remains in peak operating condition.

Our technical team recently carried out a radar maintenance and magnetron replacement onboard a vessel equipped with a Furuno FR-1835 Radar. The service included:

✅ Comprehensive visual inspection and operational testing
✅ Verification of target detection performance in both short and long range settings
✅ Dismantling of the scanner unit and removal of the old magnetron
✅ Installation of a new Magnetron EEV MG4004
✅ System reassembly, power-up, and performance testing
✅ Radar transmission test and tuning verification

📡 Result: The new magnetron was successfully installed, tested, and confirmed to be operating normally, restoring optimal radar performance and ensuring reliable navigation support.

Here is a quick look at the service reports from our recent deployments:

1️⃣ Automatic Identification System (AIS) Annual Check-Up
As detailed in image_cd3c2d.jpg, our engineers performed a thorough annual inspection on a Samyung SI-70A AIS unit.

Actions Taken: We conducted full visual inspections of the target list display, verified GPS positioning and heading data, checked the VHF and GPS antennas, and thoroughly tested the wiring and cable connectors. A forced transmission test was also carried out to observe the ship's overall visibility.

The Result: The system is operating perfectly with zero signs of trouble!

2️⃣ Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) Inspection
Safety never takes a break. As shown in image_cd3c53.jpg, our team also inspected a Samyung BNWAS (Model: BNW50) including the BN50 display and BN51 processor.

Findings & Actions: During visual and audio testing of the motion sensors and reset units, our team identified that the starboard reset unit's audio function was not working properly.

Recommendation: While the main BNWAS remains operational, we have recommended a swift replacement of 1 pc of the BNW-52 Starboard Reset Unit to maintain full system integrity.

Keeping an Eye on the Depths: Echo Sounder Service Spotlight! 🌊🛳️

At Jason Marine Tech Philippines, we know that accurate depth readings are critical for safe navigation. Our team recently headed to Tanza, Navotas to troubleshoot a Garmin AQUAMAP 1052 Echo Sounder that was reporting "No Depth Reading."

Technical Breakdown:
Our engineers performed a systematic diagnostic to pinpoint the issue:

Visual Inspection: Initial settings were verified as correct, but the unit still failed to provide depth data.

Cross-Testing: We tested the display unit with a new transducer (Transceiver: GOOD) and tested the onboard transducer with a new display (Result: NOT GOOD).

The Finding: The transducer was transmitting correctly, but the "received" signal was failing.

Pro-Tip for Vessel Owners:
The culprit? Barnacles and algae accumulation! Marine growth on the transducer surface can block returning echoes, leading to total signal loss.

Our Recommendations:
Deep Clean: Remove all barnacles and algae from the transducer surface.

Verify: If readings don't return after a thorough cleaning, the internal components of the transducer may be defective and require a full replacement.
