⚡ Empowering Engineers, Strengthening Designs! ⚡

Our Hands-on Training on Overhead Transmission Line Design using PLS-CADD with the engineers of Lahore Electric Supply Company-LESCO, Pakistan (Aug 18–22, 2025) was a success! 🚀

Over the 5-day program, participants explored both the fundamental concepts and practical applications of PLS software; equipping them with the tools to deliver safer, smarter, and more efficient transmission line designs.

📌 Training Highlights:

✔️ Survey Data & Terrain Modelling – Hands-on practice in importing survey data, building terrain models, and aligning routes for accurate line layouts.
✔️ Design Criteria & Standards – Applying weather conditions, safety codes, and project-specific criteria to ensure compliance with international standards.
✔️ Structure & Cable Functions – Creating and modifying structures, setting up conductor data, stringing cables, and managing multiple spans with precision.
✔️ Sag-Tension & Clearance Calculations – Performing critical analyses for safe operation, including ground, phase-to-phase, and crossing clearances.
✔️ Spotting & Stringing – Learning both manual and automated methods of spotting and moving structures for optimized designs.
✔️ Reports & Documentation – Generating detailed engineering reports, Bills of Materials, staking tables, and clearance summaries to support project ex*****on.
✔️ Construction Deliverables – Producing plan and profile sheets, stringing charts, and construction-ready outputs for smooth project implementation.
✔️ Material Management – Understanding how to manage components, assemblies, and material databases to streamline procurement and construction.
✔️ PLS-CADD/LITE/ULTRALITE & PLS-POLE and TOWER Integration – Using Lite versions for quick checks and integrating pole and tower structures into complete transmission line models.

This comprehensive training gave the LESCO Engineers the confidence to apply PLS-CADD directly to their projects, improving both efficiency and design quality. 👷‍♂️📐

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
TRANSMISSION LINES, SUBSTATIONS
& TELECOMMUNICATION STRUCTURES

PCSI provides the technical expertise in transmission line system, substation system and telecommunication facility
services. We have extensive experience from low-voltage of 13.2kV up to 500kV Extra-High Voltage (EHV) power
transmission structures. Integration of all aspects associated with surveying, engineering, material supply, fabrication,
construction and project management to maximize benefit for both the company and clients. Most design tasks are done
with the aid of latest state-of-the-art computer software programs and in-house engineering programs which has been
adopted for many years and continuously updated to incorporate new trends based on internationally accepted design
standards and practices.

GEOLOGICAL and GEOTECHNICAL

PCSI have conducted various geological and geotechnical works such as soil boring, soil testing, data gathering,
slope stability analysis, geological mapping, analyzing and evaluating soil data / parameters and preparation of
technical reports. These works should be given thorough emphasis or studies for greater safety of the structures
and for the economy of design and construction, as well.

STEEL TOWER, POLE & SUBSTATION
RETROFITTING SERVICES

We have conducted various types of retrofitting jobs
from retrofit analysis & design, structure dismantling,
fabrication of replacement parts and re-installation
including application of rust proofing according to
Client’s specification. Works can be performed either
at the site or in our fabrication shops depending on
the nature of works as dictated under actual
structure or site condition.

SURVEYING

PCSI offers surveying method in the form of
three-dimensional geographical information
system (GIS) representation. Total station
geographical positioning system (GPS) or
photogrammetry has been employed to develop
quick and relatively accurate terrain models.
Data are collected in electronic format, and can
be processed by the transmission line software
that is capable of reading the input in logical
format normally desired by the designer or end
user. The information collected can also be
directly transmitted and inputted in PLS-CADD
software program and processed in a matter of
minutes. Transmission line design can begin
immediately using extremely accurate profile.

TRAINING & SEMINARS

With a broad range of experience of our Technical Engineers & Associates, we also conduct and/or facilitate
training or seminar of Client’s Engineers to gain more knowledge and expertise in the field of designing power
line utility structures. Such training includes Transmission Line Design with the use of PLS Software and design
of various types of foundation.
