The material choice for Plate Heat Exchanger gaskets (seals) directly impacts the equipment's sealing, temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. It must be tailored to the operating conditions, including the working medium, temperature, and pressure.
The following are commonly used gasket materials in the industrial field:
1️⃣ NBR
Resistant to mineral oil, vegetable oil, animal oil and water/brine media, good elasticity and low cost.
2️⃣ EPDM
Resistant to hot water, steam, weak acid/alkali, food-grade media (such as milk, juice), and ozone aging.
3️⃣ FKM
Resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents and high-temperature oils, with excellent chemical stability.
4️⃣ HNBR
Enhanced heat resistance based on NBR, resistant to sulfur-containing crude oil, H₂S media and high-temperature edible oil.
5️⃣ FTP
Resistant to concentrated acid, concentrated alkali, steam and high temperature grease, good resistance to compression deformation.
Regularly inspect gaskets for signs of aging (such as hardening or cracking) and replace them promptly to prevent cross-contamination and energy efficiency degradation.
