Sensors from different manufacturers usually mean separate wiring, separate configuration, and separate troubleshooting for each one. The OMRON GD Series IO-Link Master Unit removes that problem by connecting sensors from over 100 manufacturers to a single PLC, automatically.

For long-distance work, the TOF-L and TOF-3V Series use Time-of-Flight measurement for stable detection up to 4.5 m, even on black rubber or glossy metal. For sub-millimeter accuracy, the BGS-HL/BGS-HDL Series detects height differences as fine as 0.08 mm regardless of object color, and the ZA-B Series adds IO-Link connectivity with micron-level accuracy. For transparent objects and liquids, the DR-Q Series senses up to 4 m with a built-in function that resists dust and moisture buildup. Not all sensors work the same way, and picking the right one depends on what you're trying to detect.

Photoelectric sensors use light to spot objects of almost any material. Proximity sensors detect metal or non-metal items without ever touching them. Fiber sensors help when space is too tight for a regular sensor. Ultrasonic sensors are the go-to for clear or transparent objects like glass and film, since sound waves work where light-based sensors can't. Keeping process equipment cool without a cooling tower is a common challenge on the plant floor. SMC's HRS Series thermo-chillers solve this by supplying temperature-controlled water in a closed loop, right where you need it.

The HRS Series holds temperature stability of ยฑ0.1ยฐC and doesn't require a separate heater, since circulating fluid is heated using heat exhausted by the refrigeration circuit itself.
