We thank Maynilad Water Services Inc. for awarding the first phase of the 100 MLD Putatan ceramic ultrafiltration retrofit to Acuriant Technologies Inc, formerly known as Nanostone Water. This milestone reflects the growing confidence in ceramic UF technology as a resilient solution for Laguna Lake’s increasingly variable source water.
It is worth remembering that the foundation for this retrofit was laid in 2023, when Maynilad entrusted the consortium of RENDCO Water Infrastructure Inc. & FFJJ Construction with designing and building the Maynilad Laguna Lake 20MLD CUF Water Treatment Plant at Putatan. That facility, powered by Nanostone CM‑151 ceramic modules and enhanced by Moleaer’s nanobubble pretreatment technology, consistently delivered its contracted 20 MLD capacity between December 2024 and September 2025, even under challenging turbidity and weather conditions.
The lesson was clear: ceramic membranes perform at their best when paired with nanobubble pretreatment. This NB + CUF combination is not only robust but also replicable, offering a model for future water and wastewater treatment projects.
We are grateful to Maynilad for allowing our consortium to showcase this trailblazing integration of global technology and Filipino engineering. The Maynilad Laguna Lake 20MLD CUF Water Treatment Plant stands as proof that local expertise, when combined with innovative pretreatment, can meet world‑class standards. It is a platform we can proudly present to the world and replicate across future projects.
As the industry moves forward with larger retrofits, we celebrate the fact that Filipino ingenuity has already demonstrated what is possible. 💧
