Don’t simply choose one auto brand, model, or vehicle body type. Consider numerous options. Compare the differences between luxury sedans and coupes and between two or more luxury brands. Weigh the pros and cons of each before you make any decision.
2. UNDERSTAND YOUR NEEDS VS. YOUR WANTS
You may want a three-row Lexus LX 570, but do you really need a luxury SUV that large? Similarly, you may want a new Lexus LC Convertible, but where would your newborn twins sit? Know your limits and stick to them.
3. DON’T BUY ON YOUR FIRST VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP
Before you arrive at the luxury car dealership, get your mind set on walking away – no matter the situation. You’re a commodity to dealers, and if you take a step back and walk out the door, you may be able to get a better price on the same vehicle next weekend.
4. TIME THE MARKET
Did you know that you can get better deals at certain times of the month or year? It’s a little dealership secret, in fact.
Also aim to buy toward the end of a month, which is when salespeople are trying to sell more vehicles to “meet their quotas.”
If you know a new model is being released soon, you can sometimes get a special price on an outgoing model. Check the manufacturer’s website for model release dates.
5. TAKE MANY TEST DRIVES
The benefit of shopping at a dealership is in the test drive – or test drives, in this case. Test out as many vehicles as you’d like, including entry-level/base and range-topping trims of each model. This allows you to get an idea of what features you’d like versus what features are superfluous.
