IExtension is the Official Extension Services and Community Involvement Unit of Industrial Engineering Department in Bulacan State University

IE Extension is an official affiliation of of Industrial Engineering Department of Bulacan State University. It is composed of selected Industrial Engineering students who coordinates with the companies and help them to improve and develop their systems as well as to reach out for communities, help them grow with activities that is related in industrial engineering field. Last March 12–13, IExtension’s Program 𝗞𝗮𝗜𝗘𝗸𝗮𝗸𝘂 conducted a two-day training at 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗜 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰., featuring Project RootSight and Project Stratify, which focused on root cause analysis and structured decision-making for logistics operations.

The sessions were facilitated by faculty members, who guided participants through discussions and hands-on workshops on analyzing operational challenges and applying structured decision tools. Participants from HAVI Logistics actively engaged in the activities, sharing their experiences and applying what they learned throughout the training.

The activity highlighted the value of collaboration between academia and industry in strengthening practical skills and improving operational practices.

On January 29, 2026, IExtension’s Program Kal𝗜𝗘kasan, together with 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 and 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝗺𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 (𝗨𝗔𝗝𝗬), concluded the two-week community service through the final presentation of proposed environmental solutions for Barangay Tabe, Guiguinto.

Based on site visits, interviews, and data gathering conducted from January 19 to 29, the team presented practical recommendations addressing local waste management concerns. The presentation also welcomed feedback from barangay leaders to further refine the proposals and ensure their suitability for the community. This activity marks a meaningful step toward collaborative and sustainable environmental action. ♻️💚

Last January 26, 2026, IExtension’s Program Kal𝗜𝗘kasan, 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 and 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝗺𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 (𝗨𝗔𝗝𝗬) held an official meeting in Barangay Tabe, Guiguinto, featuring the initial proposal presentation by the students.

The presentation began with the objectives of the study, followed by a discussion of the current waste management issues in Barangay Tabe identified during earlier site visits and community interactions. Based on these findings, proposed solutions were presented, including waste segregation and recycling facilities, biodegradable waste management, improvements in waste collection and monitoring, community participation and incentive systems, and education and information dissemination.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on the next steps for the project, strengthening collaboration between academic partners and the barangay to ensure that future actions are practical, community-based, and responsive to local needs.

𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 🤝🏻🏘

As part of Program Kal𝗜𝗘kasan, 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲, and 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝗺𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 (𝗨𝗔𝗝𝗬) students returned to Barangay Tabe, Guiguinto to conduct community interviews with residents. The discussions focused on household waste practices, awareness of barangay and municipal waste policies, and familiarity with the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

The team also visited the Guiguinto Municipal Hall to engage with 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗼 “𝗕𝗼𝘆” 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇 𝗝𝗿., 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘀, and local officials, and submitted a formal request for an MRF visit to support data gathering. At the MENRO Office, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗦𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗼-𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗼𝗻 shared insights on the municipality’s environmental programs and waste management system.

The day concluded with an on-site MRF visit and a follow-up discussion on Guiguinto’s best practices for maintaining a clean and sustainable environment, providing valuable inputs for practical, community-based solutions.

As part of Program Kal𝗜𝗘kasan, 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲, and students from 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝗺𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮 (𝗨𝗔𝗝𝗬) conducted a field immersion activity in Barangay Tabe, Guiguinto to support an ongoing community-based environmental study.

The team visited several areas, including the back of Tabe Elementary School, Purok Dos, Sta. Rita, and other parts of the barangay to observe current conditions related to solid waste management and drainage. The focus was on how waste is collected, where it is disposed of, the frequency of collection, and areas affected by clogged or overflowing canals.

After the site visits, a discussion with barangay representatives and the Industrial Engineering Department (BulSU) was held to review the observed concerns and gather community insights. This was followed by a separate meeting with the IE faculties, BulSU students, and UAJY to clarify initial plans and assign tasks for the next steps of the study.

These activities help ensure that future environmental solutions are based on real community needs and developed through collaboration between local stakeholders and academic partners.

The discussion focused on identifying the barangay’s current environmental concerns, together with Barangay Captain 𝙅𝙚𝙧𝙬𝙞𝙣 𝙇𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙨 and Barangay Councilor 𝙈𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙉𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙤, as groundwork for the upcoming community-based study with 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐭𝐦𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐘𝐨𝐠𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 (UAJY).
