🤔Another corridor strobe light discussion.

Remember on our previous discussion that according to NFPA 72, corridor signaling is permitted to be by direct viewing of lower-intensity (15 cd) appliances.

Direct viewing means you're facing the strobe light, while indirect viewing means you're seeing it reflected off surfaces.

And by placing strobe lights within 4.6 meters of the end of the corridor, you create a network of lights that ensures that no matter where a person is in the corridor, they will have a clear view of a visual notification appliance.

🤔Did you know that according to NFPA 72 A.18.5.5.8 corridor strobe lights can be of lower intensity compared to those in rooms?

🔎 This is because people in corridors are usually more alert and moving, and the narrowness of the space helps focus their vision. According to NFPA 72, corridor signaling is permitted to be by direct viewing of lower-intensity (15 cd) appliances.

🔎Additionally, strobe lights should be placed within 15 feet (4.6m) from the end of the corridor.

🔎However, if the spacing for rooms is used as mentioned in NFPA 72 18.5.5.7, then it's not necessary to have a corridor visual notification appliance within 15 feet (4.6m) of the end of the corridor.
