On January 1998 SMART-TECH POWER & ENGINEERING SYSTEMS was formed and was registered as a single proprietorship construction firm owned by Engineer Stephen F. It has a capitalization of P100,000.00 pesos only coming from his retirement benefits when he applied for early retirement plan offered by San Miguel-Purefoods Corporation in 1997. The main line of business then was Electrical Construction
and Air-conditioning services. In the year 2000, Engr. Collao decided to expand his services by hiring technical people who has knowledge in High Voltage construction, Substation/Transformer Repair, Servicing and Testing. Thereby, utilizing his advantage as a Professional Electrical Engineer over his competitors in the High Voltage Electrical Construction Industry. In March of 2002 as the customers/clients grew bigger, the firm is in dire need for more capitalization. Collao, decided to invite family members to invests, and thus the firm was incorporated and named the company as SMART-TECH POWER SYSTEMS & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. It has an initial capitalization of P 4,000,000.00. With the increased capitalization, the corporation was able to upgrade and acquire more tools, test instruments and transportation. This way, the company mobility and reliability was vastly enhanced. As the company’s assets grew bigger and bigger every year, the company decided to increase its capitalization from P4,000,000.00 in 2002 to P20,000,000.00 in June 2008. It also paves the way for creation of another division on the company’s services which is the GENERAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION. On February 2012, in conjunction with some changes in the company’s investors and incorporators. The company was named as SMART-TECH ELECTRO-INDUSTRIAL¬ SYSTEMS, INC. To date, the company is now categorized as a General Contractor, PCAB registered with CLASS “A” classification and has an aggregate assets of over P 80Million to include Cash, land, Buildings, Service Vehicles, Heavy Equipment, tools/Tests instrument.
