B2B Philippines long term aim is to provide a platform for connecting suppliers and buyers. In the medium term we will be launching a ecommerce website which will allow suppliers to list their goods for free and buyers to discover which suppliers can meet their needs. In the short term we have established this page and facebook group. These will be used to gather insight and test various
options so that our medium and long term solutions fit the needs of businesses here in the Philippines. The group of people who have started this project have many years experience on both supplier and purchaser sides of the B2B model. We need to source a wide range of products in various quantities often to tight deadlines. The traditional word of mouth or friend of a friend networking model simply isn't up to the task in a modern business environment where rapid change is an everyday occurrence. To find suitable suppliers we use many divergent sources. Our initial aim is simply to identify, make initial contact and verify basic product match and delivery needs. At best much of the Information we do locate regarding suppliers is inconsistent, out of date, incorrect or simply missing. Add to this very little industry/trade press, apathy and reluctance to utilize online and eCommerce channels and lastly little if any effective b2b marketing effort by suppliers, can often lead to us finding a supplier more by luck than through our efforts. The situation becomes worse when we know little about the product we are sourcing which compounds the problem and effort required to identify and engage with possible suppliers.
