Maliban sa hiding ability, ang primer ay ang layer ng pintura na nagbibigay ng sapat na kapit o adhesion sa pagitan ng skimcoat at ng topcoat. Dahil dito, kailangang magpahid muna ng primer sa kongkretong pader na may skimcoat bago ang 2 - 3 mano ng topcoat.

Pero kung ang pinturang gagamitin ay self-priming, tulad ng Titan Superflex Elastomeric Paint, magpahid lamang ng 3 mano ng napiling kulay.
