A look back at this Fuso transporter build we shared while it was still taking shape in the workshop.

The brief was to keep it simple, practical and reliable - a purpose-built setup for moving excavators and equipment, with everything the customer needed and nothing they didn’t.

With the design, fabrication, blasting, painting and certification all handled in-house, we were able to take care of the complete build under one roof.

A follow-up from our work with the Mahurangi College students completing the EVolocity Challenge.

We previously welcomed the students into the ITSS workshop to get some hands-on experience with our team, and on Saturday Connor and Brahm were back in to help them with the next stage of their project.

This time, it was machining support - specifically helping machine the clevises needed for their wheel assembly.

It’s great to be able to give these students access to the machinery, skills and practical knowledge that can help bring their project together.

We’re looking forward to seeing the finished result!

Heavy gear is what our Hydraulic & General Engineering team loves ROLLING their sleeves up for.

This one came in because its vibrating counterweight underneath the belly pan had broken free. After discussions with Dobbyn Builders – to do the job properly we needed to take the front roller off to gain good access and Arc weld securely back into position.

Thanks to the gear and experience of our team this roller was back out onsite compacting quick smart.

There’s never really a typical day in our General Engineering workshop.

Russell and the team could be working on forestry machinery one minute, then a boat part, farm equipment or a walk-in repair the next.

A lot of the time, it’s about finding a practical way to fix what’s broken and getting it turned around quickly so our customers can get back to work.

A little update on the Dustex project we showed you in the workshop recently.

The clean air section was connected to the top body and hopper sections, bringing the whole unit together after a lot of work from the team.

From there, it was broken over ready for transport, loaded up and sent on its way to site.

A really good project for a great customer, and always satisfying to see something of this size leave the workshop ready to do its job.

There’s a lot that goes into keeping a project moving, especially when timelines are tight.

A big project currently taking shape in our workshop.

We’re currently working with Dustex on this custom dust filtration unit, bringing our engineering expertise to their design and taking care of the material supply, fabrication and coating to spec.

The hopper, top body and clean air section are now coming together, with final lagging and assembly up next.

Plenty more to come on this project - stay tuned to see the finished result.

Architectural metalwork is about far more than fabrication.

Long before a piece of metal reaches the workshop floor, there's a lot happening behind the scenes. Material selection, coatings, structural considerations, brackets, fixings, shop drawings, transport and installation all play an important role in achieving the finished result.
