Introducing Eminence 003, fresh from the workshop and ready for its forever home šŸ¦…

This striking New Zealand falcon (kārearea) sculpture is crafted from sealed corten steel and natural stainless steel, perched on a twisted tree plinth that adds strength and movement to the form.

Every detail has been carefully shaped and refined to reflect the anatomy and presence of this remarkable bird, from the grip of the talons, to the texture of the perch, to the layered feather work.

Introducing Sophia šŸ¦‰

The finished reveal of our newest owl sculpture, designed and created by our team member Silas as his first original piece. Itā€™s been exciting watching him stretch his wings creatively and bring his own vision to life through metalwork.

Crafted from corten steel, Sophia stands 390mm high and can be displayed indoors or outdoors. Currently perched on a branch, this piece can also be created with a tree plinth option.

Inspired by the owlā€™s long-standing symbolism of wisdom and insight, Sophia brings a calm yet striking presence wherever she rests. Weā€™re proud to showcase this beautiful new addition to the workshop.

This Raupō (bulrush) sculpture has just been sent off to a coastal property, with stainless steel chosen as the perfect option for a water-side environment. Unlike our popular corten steel finish, stainless steel wonā€™t rust, making it ideal for coastal locations while still bringing the same elegant, sculptural feel.

Weā€™re still buzzing after our kārearea encounter šŸ¦…

While in Blenheim for the sculpture auction, Jen and Steve had the incredible opportunity to experience a close-up encounter with Scout, one of the Trustā€™s beautiful falcons.

This intimate experience included an educational talk about the kārearea and the important conservation work happening through the Trust, a behind-the-scenes aviary tour, and the unforgettable moment of meeting Scout up close while wearing a falconry glove. Seeing every detail of this remarkable bird firsthand was truly something special.

For us as artists, experiences like this are invaluable. Observing the anatomy, movement, feather detail, and presence of these birds up close helps continue informing the sculptures we create with such care and respect.

If youā€™re ever in Blenheim, we can highly recommend booking yourself a kārearea encounter. It was magical, moving, and something we wonā€™t forget anytime soon.

What an incredible evening for the kārearea šŸ¦…

Weā€™re so grateful to everyone who came along, placed bids, supported the auction, and helped make the Kārearea Falcon Trust fundraiser such a success. Together, thousands of dollars were raised to help protect New Zealandā€™s last remaining bird of prey, a species that is sadly still highly endangered.

We were thrilled to see 4 Desktop Updrafts and a 1.5m wingspan Updraft find new homes on the night, with strong interest continuing in pieces like Piccolo and Lookout too.

Beyond the auction itself, it was incredibly special to connect with so many people who share a love for wildlife, conservation, craftsmanship, and art inspired by the natural world. Thanks for hosting us
