Yes, we’re still open. Come and find us!

Planning to visit the Metalworks Wanaka gallery and workshop? The intersection near our gallery is currently closed due to roadworks, with the closure expected to continue until mid-December. This means getting to us might be a little trickier than usual, but we’re very much open for business!

To make things easier, we’ve included a detour map to help you find your way to us. Keep an eye out for our Metalworks Wanaka sign and the large-scale sculptures displayed out the front. You’ll know you’re in the right place! 🦅

Whether you’re looking for a unique piece of metal art, browsing for inspiration, or simply keen to see what we create here in Wānaka, we’d love to welcome you.

Follow the map, take the detour, and come and visit us at the gallery. We look forward to seeing you at 54 Ballantyne Road, Wanaka.

Celebrating some of Aotearoa’s best in snow sports! 🏆⛷️

Last week, Snow Sports NZ celebrated an outstanding season, recognising the athletes making their mark on the world stage, and we were proud to see our handcrafted keepers trophies presented to some truly exceptional talent.

A huge congratulations to four of the award recipients:
Zoi Sadowski-Synnott won Snowboarder of the Year, following an incredible season that included two Olympic silver medals.

Ben Richards won Freeride Athlete of the Year, after winning the Freeride World Tour earlier this year.

Luca Harrington won Freeskier of the Year, following his Olympic bronze medal achievement.

Adam Hall won Adaptive Athlete of the Year, recognising another outstanding contribution from this accomplished Paralympian.

It’s pretty special knowing that something our team has designed and crafted here in Wānaka becomes part of the story behind these athletes’ achievements. We love creating trophies that are made to be kept, treasured and remembered long after the celebrations are over. 🥇

A big thank you to Snow Sports New Zealand for trusting us to create the keepers trophies again this year, and congratulations to all the athletes, instructors and coaches recognised at the awards. What an incredible community to be part of! 🏂

A special day for Jen and the Metalworks Wanaka team. 🦅

Jen recently had the privilege of attending the opening of The New Zealand Raptor Trust’s new captive breeding facility for kārearea (New Zealand falcon) in Timaru.

Metalworks Wanaka was proud to be part of the celebration, with two of our Updraft sculptures on display, Updraft Kāhu, our hawk, and Updraft Kārearea, our New Zealand falcon. The opening ribbon was attached to each sculpture, ready to be cut as part of the opening celebrations.

The Trust put on a fantastic event, with plenty of information, good food and, of course, the opportunity to get up close with some very special real-life birds of prey.

For Jen, seeing the kārearea up close was a real highlight. There’s nothing quite like being in the presence of these magnificent birds and seeing the details, character and power that inspire so much of our work.

We’re incredibly grateful to the New Zealand Raptor Trust for allowing us to be part of such an exciting new chapter in their conservation work. Thanks for a wonderful day and for the important work you do to protect and support these incredible birds.
