ENGINE REPLACEMENT JOB – FROM A SNAPPED CAM BELT TO BACK ON THE ROAD!

Another Subaru back in action thanks to the team at Subie Doo Spares!

A couple of months ago, Radek contacted us from Auckland after experiencing issues with his Subaru Legacy. The car was transported down to us, where we discovered the cam belt had snapped and the engine needed replacing.

We got stuck into the job, supplying a complete replacement motor and carrying out a comprehensive range of work to get the car back into great running condition!

HERE'S WHAT WE CARRIED OUT:

✅ Supplied and installed a complete replacement motor
✅ Genuine Subaru cam belt kit and water pump
✅ New genuine Subaru rocker cover gaskets
✅ Genuine Subaru rear main seal
✅ New radiator
✅ Brand-new Exedy clutch kit installed
✅ Flywheel machined to suit the new clutch
✅ Installed monsoons
✅ Full vehicle checkover

We wanted to make sure Radrk got his car back in proper condition, so we took the time to go through the vehicle and carry out the work needed to get it sorted.

To top it off, when we were heading back up to Auckland, we arranged to meet Radek closer to home to help save him the extra travel of coming all the way back down to collect the car. It's all part of going the extra mile for our customers!

SUBARU IMPREZA STI GRB – MOTOR JOB COMPLETED

Late last year, we completed this motor job for Will’s GRB STI. The car received a new motor, genuine cam belt kit, rocker cover gaskets, rear main seal and new clutch.

We also got the car through a fresh WOF, ready for Will to jump in and drive it home.

🔥 FULL BUILD – SUBARU WRX VERSION 8 🔥

This is definitely one of the biggest builds we’ve completed to date here at Subie Doo Spares!

This is Brad’s Version 8 WRX, and what started out as a simple 5-speed to STI 6-speed conversion quickly turned into a full strip-down and rebuild. 🔧💪

When the car arrived, the 5-speed was missing a couple of gears. Josh got stuck in, and before long the whole car was stripped right back to the shell.

From there, we fitted an STI 6-speed drivetrain setup, installed Brad’s turbo setup and built motor, and completely went through the car to get everything working together properly.

The build included:

🔧 STI 6-speed drivetrain conversion
🔧 Turbo setup installed
🔧 Built motor cleaned & refitted
🔧 Brand new Phoenix alloy radiator & fans
🔧 Exedy Heavy-Duty clutch
🔧 Complete rear-end strip & rebuild
🔧 Calipers and drivetrain components rebuilt
🔧 Full engine bay clean-up
🔧 Complete inspection, testing & final checks

The difference between the before and after photos is huge, especially in the engine bay!

Once we had everything completed and checked over, the car headed down to D.TECH for tuning. After working through a couple of small issues on the dyno, the guys had it running beautifully.

This thing is an absolute weapon and one seriously cool WRX. 🔥

A massive thank you to Brad for trusting us with such a big project and giving us the opportunity to showcase what we can do here at Subie Doo Spares.

Subaru Motor Out – Clutch Replacement & Freshen Up!

Here’s Logan’s turbo BP Legacy! Logan brought the car to us for a thorough checkover before heading to D. TECH for a tune.

After going over the car with Logan and making a plan, Josh got stuck in and smashed out the work!

The motor was removed, cleaned up and freshened up, with the following work carried out:

🔧 New rocker cover gaskets
🔧 New rear main seal
🔧 Exedy Heavy-Duty clutch fitted
🔧 Koyo alloy radiator & new thermostat
🔧 Aftermarket downpipe fitted
🔧 Engine bay cleaned
🔧 Full service with fresh oil & coolant
🔧 Full testing and checks completed

Once everything was finished, we trailered the Legacy over to D.TECH and dropped it off ready for its tune.

The result? 200KW on the dyno!

This job was completed back in April, and we wanted to finally give Logan’s Subaru the spotlight it deserves.

A massive thank you to Logan for trusting us with his car — we really appreciate the support!
