Supplying stock (both "standard and exotic") and pasture advice to support you and your family to enjoy living on your lifestyle block, rather than experiencing a life sentence. I've worked in the rural industry for the past 15 years along with owning my own lifestyle block for the past 8 years with my wife and children. Whilst working in the rural industry, I worked in various roles and supported
medium to large farms with all things farming. This included animal health plans, cropping, regrassing, fertililizer and agrichemical recommendations and all other matters relating to running a successful farm operation. I also spent some time selling tractors, farm machinery and then milking machines and water pumps. For the past two years I've had a change of pace and now work at a local school as a Learning Assistant/ Teacher Aide. This "part-time" job has allowed me to start this business, all be it slowly but surely. Having worked in the rural industry I was aware that stock sales were targeted towards full time farmers, as they were generally held during the work day, selling large pen lots of animals (and really only interested in selling such). Therefore I decided to create a business where by I could buy the pen of 10,15 or 20 and then sell 1,2 or 3 to people on smaller farms. I initially started with the Stock Standard & Exotic in regards to animal trading. This involved focusing on rearing calves, buying, trading and fattening beef, sheep and pigs. This included animals such as "Standard" Jersey, Fresian, Red and Black White Face Bulls and Large White Porkers to the more "Exotic" Speckled Park, Belgium Blue Heifers and Bulls, Saddle back porkers, Dorper Ewes and Lambs. The aim of this was to try and meet the "traditional" market the other half aimed at small farms and lifestyle blocks. The livestock business over the last 18 months has gone really well and in turn has got me talking to people on small blocks who have also found information and support hard to come by hence the creation of the second part of the business. I figure if my knowledge and expertise was good enough for medium to large scale farmers it would certainly be helpful for small farms and lifestyle blocks who find this type of expertise incredibly hard to obtain. So with that in mind I have started Stock Standard & Exotic Consulting specific for small farms and lifestyle blocks. The key driver being to bring back the lifestyle and take away the life sentence that these size blocks can often be seen as. As above with the Standard and Exotic this applies to this part of my business also, we can go the "standard" route using commercial fertilizer products and agrichemical spray or we can go the "exotic" way using organic methods and regenerative farming options depending on the clients preferences and desired outcomes. This is the luxury I now have with being independent, I don't have to promote one or the other. My services at this stage include working alongside the client to understand and assist them in achieving there desired outcomes (putting a plan together) soil testing and fertilizer recommendations Standard or Exotic. Putting together animal health, spray and fertilizer plans.
