Making Space for Everyone ✨

Our focus on this project was providing high-standard accessibility infrastructure that ensures all students have the facilities they require from day one.

We were asked to provide an accessible bathroom facility on a tight deadline to support two wheelchair-using students starting their school term in the Waikato. With the school’s permanent facilities under upgrade, we had a narrow window to get this right.

The Hurdles:

1. Delivering during the Christmas and New Year shutdown period.

2. Mobilising a brand-new team of subcontractors in a new region.

3. Coordinating urgent funding and approvals to keep the momentum going.

Thanks to the incredible dedication of our team (who put in long days over the holiday break) and our amazing subcontractors who understood the heart of this project, we delivered on time.

Receiving praise from the MoE and, most importantly, the families involved, makes all the hard work worth it.

Turning Challenges into Classrooms 🏗️

Providing space for learning often requires moving fast! We recently completed a project to install six temporary classrooms under an urgent timeline to support a Bay of Plenty school’s essential infrastructure upgrades.

Because these buildings were a temporary solution, all services had to be designed and installed above ground—adding an extra layer of complexity to the build. Between the tight deadline, some classic Kiwi weather, and a strict budget, the pressure was on.

The secret to our success: collaboration. From our dedicated subcontractors to the project stakeholders, clear communication ensured we delivered exactly what was needed, right when it was needed.

Looking Back: A Win for the Whole Team! 🏆

While only a small group could represent us at the business awards, the Excellence in Manufacturing award belongs to every single person in the Modcom family.

From the factory floor to the office and everything in between, it is the hard work of our entire crew that made us a finalist for Business of the Year. We might have been the ones in the suits for the night, but the whole team is the reason we are celebrating this achievement.
