But when most heat loss happens at the slab edge, it’s worth questioning whether that approach is still the best one.

Base insulation: internal slab temp = 6.95°C
Slab-edge insulation: 10.11°C

Why?

Around 80% of heat loss happens at the slab edge.

So insulating the edge has a far greater impact than insulating the base alone.
