Another big week in Greymouth!

We’ve been working on a new storage facility and as expected… Greymouth delivered rock, rock and more rock. Some of the voids we hit were bigger than a rugby ball. Traditional digging would’ve been slow, messy and would’ve blown the concrete budget out the window.

So we engineered a smarter solution:

🔩 Warratahs driven deep and locked into the rock
🕳️ Opened around them 250–300mm
📏 Dropped the 65mm main posts over the top, set perfectly straight
🧱 Filled inside each post with just 2L of concrete — creating a strong hybrid system designed for the conditions

What would’ve taken around 10 cubic metres of concrete ended up using only a dozen 25kg bags. Clean, efficient and rock-solid.

🚧 250 metres completed in just 5 days with 2 men — huge effort and a job well done.

A couple of well-earned days off, then back into it Monday.

So after waiting all morning for a delivery we finally got to Tokoroa to start this job. 72m of 1.8m chain link fence with 1x 5m gateway.
We dug 2 good holes for the gateway and set them in concrete, and got 8 line posts driven in to around 1100mm depth. 1 more full day and just be the gate left to fabricate and swing.
