Draftsperson / CAD Designer

About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are creating a new position within our business for a motivated and detail-oriented Draftsperson / CAD Designer.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and manage the company's design and drawing systems while working on a diverse range of projects across the food, dairy, industrial, aquatics, and wellness sectors.
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, developing new product designs, updating existing drawings, and working alongside customers, architects, engineers, project managers, and our fabrication team to bring projects from concept through to manufacture and installation.
Projects range from stainless process equipment and industrial installations through to premium commercial wellness facilities, contrast therapy pools, hot tubs, recovery centres, and bespoke aquatics equipment installed throughout New Zealand and Australia.
As this is a newly created position, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to help establish design systems, standards, and processes that will support the future growth of the business. For the right candidate, this role has the potential to develop into a senior Design Manager position as our product range and project portfolio continue to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly drawings.
- Maintain and organise company drawing libraries, standards, and revision control systems.
- Update and improve existing product drawings and documentation.
- Assist with the development of new products and custom project designs.
- Work alongside architects, engineers, consultants, and customers to integrate our products into commercial and residential developments.
- Prepare drawings for fabrication, laser cutting, manufacturing, and site installation.
- Assist with generating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation.
- Ensure drawing standards and document control procedures are maintained.
- Support project teams with technical design information throughout project delivery.
- Assist with design coordination for commercial wellness facilities and aquatic installations.
About You
You will be a practical and organised individual with strong CAD skills and a passion for turning ideas into well-executed designs.
Ideally you will have:
- Experience using CAD software such as Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar.
- Experience producing manufacturing, fabrication, architectural, or engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent document management skills.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with customers, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- An interest in both practical manufacturing and innovative product development.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Stainless steel fabrication and sheetmetal design.
- Food and dairy processing equipment.
- Architectural detailing and construction documentation.
- Aquatics, swimming pools, wellness facilities, or spa equipment.
- Product development and mechanical design.
- Laser cutting and manufacturing processes.
- Project coordination and multidisciplinary design environments.
