Did you know you can check out one of our corten steel planters in person at Sanctuary & Co ?

Based on Millbrook Road in Ohoka, Sanctuary & Co is a lovely local nursery with a huge variety of plants to choose from. The staff are great and can help you find the right plants for your space.

The planter on display is one of ours, measuring 1m long x 300mm wide x 580mm high, with a floor and floating feet design to give it that clean, raised look.

We’ve finished it off with our proudly local plaque, so you know it’s been made right here in Rangiora.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a corten planter to your garden but want to see one in person first, pop in and have a look while you’re there.

A recent local project we got to be a part of, supplying a few custom pieces to finish off this impressive entrance.

The customer came to us with a vision for how they wanted the entrance to look, and we got to work turning that idea into something we could fabricate.

We fabricated a 1.8m x 3.5m sliding gate frame, finished in satin black, along with a custom corten steel letter and parcel box.

To finish it off, we also made custom caps for the substantial 200mm square macrocarpa posts. The combination of the black steel, natural timber and corten gives the entrance a really nice mix of materials while keeping everything clean and simple.

Another project made locally here in Rangiora, and one we’re pretty stoked with how it all came together.

A new Rangiora build got a set of new gates to add some security and, most importantly, keep the dogs where they’re meant to be.

We were asked to build three gates for the property, all using the same horizontal tongue and groove aluminium profile to tie in with the timber cladding on the house.

The main entrance features a 4.5m sliding gate, along with a pair of side swing gates and a separate house-side entrance gate. Everything was finished in satin black to keep the look clean and consistent across the property.

All gates were fitted out with D&D Technologies Australia & NZ hardware, including MagnaLatch locks and TruClose hinges — a combination we use whenever reliability and ease of use matter.

Another set of gates designed, fabricated and finished locally here in Rangiora.

We supply custom gates and posts complete with hardware, ready for installation by your chosen installer.

Another hook attachment for Subsurface Civil & Drilling Ltd , this time a purpose-built Hardox bin.
The Hardox bin kit arrived as a flat pack from Real Steel Ltd, so we built the hook base and assembled the kit on top in place.
The tricky part was getting the tailgate trips working within just 220mm of available height. With limited room to work with, we had to come up with a setup that would give the tailgate the movement it needed while keeping everything compact and tucked away.
Another one of those jobs where the fabrication is only half the job — figuring out how to make everything work in the space available is where the fun is.
Always good to see another custom attachment heading out the door and onto the next job with Subsurface.

🔥 Sometimes it's the subtle details that completely transform a space.
For this project, we lined the fireplace surround with hot rolled steel, bringing a touch of industrial style indoors while adding depth and texture to an otherwise flat wall.
Each panel was cut to size and carefully bonded into place before being finished with a protective wax coating. This preserves the natural deep greys and blue tones of the hot rolled steel while allowing all the character of the material to shine through.
It's a simple addition, but one that completely changes the feel of the room. The raw steel pairs perfectly with the warmth of the fire, creating a feature that's both modern and timeless.
We're proud to have been part of another project where the finer details make all the difference. 🔥

An industrial-themed café deserves table numbers that match the space.

The team at Coffee Worx Cafe Roastery Rangiora wanted something that complemented the character of their retro industrial café, so we took the dimensions of their original wooden table numbers and transformed them into these custom steel pieces.
Each number was laser cut from hot rolled steel, bronze welded, then finished with a clear powder coat to preserve the raw steel finish while protecting it for years to come. The numbering was hand painted by Brush Up Custom Artwork using an industrial-style Weather Block font, finishing the look perfectly.
It's always rewarding being involved in projects like these, where the finer details help complete the overall feel of a space. We're stoked to have added another custom touch to this great local café.

Rangiora-based digital marketers casocreative / The Hunter's Journal got in touch about designing and fabricating custom industrial table bases for their new office space.
With the dimensions finalised, we fabricated the frames from structural channel to create a rugged industrial look, then oiled the steel to deepen its colour and highlight the natural character of the material. Tubes between the legs tie everything together, adding both strength and balance to the design.
The bases are now off to the client, who will be sourcing timber slabs for the tops. The combination of raw steel and natural timber is a perfect fit for a business built around New Zealand's hunting, outdoor and backcountry culture.
We can't wait to see the finished tables installed in their new workspace and see the project come together.
