Rahotu Playcentre Rahotu Playcentre is an Early Childhood play programme for children 0-6 years.

Playcentre is a family entered childhood movement and children can attend from birth to 6years. Our centre is equipped with stimulating materials & provides children with opportunities for creative development & companionship. Playcentre recognises that children reach their full potential more successfully when care-givers understand their children's development and take part in the learning proce

ss. Our Centre is a licensed Early Childhood service that helps meet the needs of parents and children. For Parents, our Playcentre is a good opportunity to meet other parents in our community and integrate in a friendly supporting environment through courses, discussions and workshops etc. The Playcentre co-operative also provides a good place for those who wish to take part in the decisions affecting their children and learn new skills. For Children, our Playcentre gives them a chance to learn physical and social skills at their own pace. All equipment is varied to give them an opportunity to experience learning in different areas that may not be available at home. Rahotu Playcentre also offers a great "Transition to School" programme with Rahotu School

It’s been a busy few weeks down here at rahotu Playcentre! A lot of us are in the thick of calving so we make the most of the time we can to get off farm for an hour or so and come to centre. today we drew around our body outlines then painted ourselves. Had some fun in the sandpit and with the train tracks. Last week we went for a walk with the older kids to the shop and they brought us some milk! We’ve been experimenting with different textures like gloop. Even in a busy season, making the most of our time we can with the kids and letting our selfs have a breather and a quiet moment, feel free to come on down on a Wednesday, 8.45 till 12.30, join us for a cuppa and a play. Yesterday was a big day in the Taranaki Playcentre world. After 40 incredible years, our C.A Anne Fenton, is leaving us, she’s spreading her wings and moving across the ditch to be with her grandies. I personally want to thank Anne for all the help and support you’ve given me, all the late night phone calls and texts 😂 the push to finish my studies with Playcentre. You have been a massive part of my personal journey and you will be very missed. All the best for your future endeavors Anne 💕 on a side note, Chloe enjoyed playing at a different centre, exploring and trying new things. The car was a massive hit! Do we have any one that would be able to make one for rahotu Playcentre? I hope everyone enjoys the holidays, we will see you again on the 22 July! 8.45-12.30. Come along for a play 🙂🙂

We’ve had a busy few sessions over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had some awesome kids come and check out our centre too! We love meeting new faces. Last week we did lots of creating on session. We had paints, glue, crafts, sticky tape, if we could stick it to something, we were giving it a go! Chloe and Lucy put in a show for us too before we went inside with some funny faces and a story to go with our Kai. Our kaiako Lisa also painted the alphabet snack again! I wonder if after all the rain it will still be there? Come on down on Wednesdays and see if it’s still there! We’re open 8.45-12.30 🫶🏻

On Wednesday we were learning about cause and effect in the sandpit, the best way to do this is by making volcanoes! Together the kids had turns adding baking soda, red dye and the vinegar and shared the joy of the mountain erupting! Lots of laughs and smiles were shared today, sharing stories and helping hands.
