**Drone Pilot Training**
101 or 102 .... Which one do you actually need?

The answer depends on what you're wanting to do with your flying.

If you are flying within Part 101 rules, which can include recreational AND paid work, you only need Part 101 pilot training. However, if you are wanting to fly beyond Part 101 rules, or fly for a Part 102 operator, you will need to complete Part 102 training. Although an OCA is not part of the DronezUp Part 102 Operations course, you will also need to complete one of these after your initial training, before you can operate under a 102 operating certificate.

A key bit of information to remember though....Pilot training does not replace a Part 102 Operating Certificate.

Before launching, make sure you work through your pre-flight steps in your job pack, or even if you are only flying under 101, a little checklist with the following things is helpful.

☑️ GPS/status information
☑️ Weather
☑️ Airspace
☑️ People and hazards
☑️ Your take-off and landing area

FAQ: Do I need a Part 102 certificate to operate an agricultural drone?
𝗬𝗲𝘀 — 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼.

A common question we get is: “𝘐𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 25 𝘬𝘨, 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵 101?”
For agricultural spraying, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼.

Part 101 allows many drone operations, but it does not cover activities such as aerial spraying or topdressing. These activities require a 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝟮 𝗨𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲.

𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝟮 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆?
Part 102 is a 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 for drone operations that sit outside the standard Part 101 privileges. It looks at your proposed operation, including the risks involved, how those risks will be managed, your procedures and the systems you have in place to operate safely.

For agricultural operators, it's about more than simply knowing how to fly the drone. You need the appropriate 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to conduct the work legally.

Not sure whether your drone operation falls under Part 101 or whether you need a Part 102 exposition?
