18 MONTHS IN THE MAKING. 27 SIGNS. ONE VERY EXCITING PROJECT! 🙌

Here is a snippet of our recent project.

What does it take to bring a project like this to life?

A whole lot of planning, precision, collaboration and teamwork!

It all began 18 months ago, working alongside Waitaki District Council to explore design concepts and the structural engineering behind the district’s new signage.

From those initial ideas, the Council’s design team developed the concept further, expanding the project to include gateway signage and signage across nine areas of the district.

Then it was over to the team at AcuCut to turn those designs into reality!

From technical drawings and precision waterjet cutting, router cutting by ExAxis, fabrication, powder coating and assembly, this project brought together multiple materials, techniques and some fantastic local expertise.

And after plenty of hard work, problem-solving and attention to detail… 27 completed signs!

Now it’s over to the team at Specialised Services to put their expertise to work installing them throughout the district.

We’re incredibly proud to have played our part in creating a fresh new welcome to Waitaki — something our community and visitors can enjoy for years to come.

Received this photo through from Amber today of one of their dome signs we made for them. We love seeing what we’ve created in situ. Excitingly we’re making them another sign for their newest Dome, dome number 7 Grayson Peak and this time we’re making it bigger, so watch this space 😀

ART OUTSIDE THE GALLERY ✨

We’ve been working on a pretty special local project with the Forrester Gallery and Whitestone Civic Trust, helping bring their vision for an outdoor gallery to life in Oamaru’s historic precinct.

The project will see photographed works from the Forrester Gallery collection reproduced on a large scale and displayed throughout the precinct — bringing art out into the streets for locals and visitors to experience.

Featured here is a work by Colin Wheeler, born in Dunedin in 1919. Wheeler was taught art at Waitaki Boys’ High School before becoming a full-time artist and author. Buildings and architecture were favourite subjects of his work — making this piece featuring Oamaru’s historic grain stores especially fitting.

The original artwork can be viewed at the Forrester Gallery, while this larger-than-life version will become part of the outdoor experience.

Art. History. Technology. Community.

We can’t wait to see this project come to life around Oamaru. ✨

Next up in our trophy series 🏆

Check out the detailing and layers in this trophy we designed and made for Business South Waitaki for the Grand business awards.

We love to add layers through the use of different materials, which creates dimension and texture. Laser marking on brushed stainless and UV printing on wood and clear acrylic to name a few.
