With just over a month away the prep was going well, panels were getting bolted on and lined up after all the modifications/repairs and the bonnet was latching closed.
Then I pulled the release cable and nothing, turns out the cable had popped off the latch so it would not release and if you know old mazda’s then you know the bonnet latches are up by the windscreen not the grill so with no access out came the trusty grinder to cut an access hole under the dash to be able to get to the latch.
The best part was there was originally a hole there for the heater that i had welded up and now cut back out, at least it now opens

I was asked by the New Plymouth bridge club to make some tag holders for the new storage boxes, they needed to be easy to change the id tags but also be very strong so they didn’t pop off or snap if they were pulled

After a year of being worked on in the new house we finally moved the mazda down to the work shop to see how far I can get before Laid Out Atthelake in November

Hunter was a help pushing it onto the trailer and Letitia Corcoran just wanted to hit switches once we got to the workshop

Quick repair on this wheelchair foot rest with a plate added to the underside to help reinforce the 2mm aluminium plate

There has been a lot of changes to the back of the mazda over the years but I am very happy with the latest one

I have recessed the number plate into the roll pan that I had installed a few years ago (I wasn’t sure how I wanted the number plate at that stage)

I took lots of inspiration from as they make some amazing roll pans, now to finish off planishing it out once I take the tray off as the chassis is in the way behind it

Was made using bead roller, shrinker stretcher, english wheel, planishing hammers & dollys

Now that tested me but it changes the engine bay so much im stocked with how it is turning out. Still have the final fit and finish to do but it sits there without any pushing into place

Quick job on the Mazda today, I had a motorcycle tank filler laying around so turned it into an oil filler for the 13b

I think it fits in well with the old school vibe of the dash and other features
