🚨 THE SOUTH ISLAND COCKSY CLASSIC HAS A NEW HOME! 🎣

After two great years at D’Urville, the South Island Cocksy Classic is heading somewhere new in 2027…

📍 Portage, Marlborough Sounds
📅 Friday 26th & Saturday 27th February 2027

After working through a long list of potential new homes, I’m stoked to announce that Portage will be our new home base, with The Portage Resort getting right behind the event and helping us make it happen.

And the news gets better…

The Top of the South ITM stores are back as major sponsor for 2027. A massive thank you to the teams at ITM Takaka, Motueka, Nelson, Havelock, Picton, Blenheim and Kaikōura for continuing to get behind the Cocksy Classic and Kiwi Kids Charity.

A special shout-out to Rick from ITM Blenheim and Nick, who both generously gave their time, and Nick his boat, to help me explore potential new locations.

SO, WHAT’S CHANGING?

With Portage being a little further inland for some of you travelling by boat, we’ve decided to stretch out the fishing window.

🎣 Fishing starts from midday Friday.

That means you can head out Friday afternoon, fish your way around the Sounds, stay wherever you like Friday night, then make your way back to Portage for weigh-in and prizegiving on Saturday afternoon.

There’s also plenty of parking for trailer boats, more shelter if the weather decides to throw a curve ball, and more accommodation options in the area.

We’ve currently got all remaining rooms at Portage Resort blocked out for Cocksy Classic competitors. More information on accommodation and how to reserve a room will be coming your way shortly.

So basically… more time on the water, more chances to catch a fish and, no doubt, more opportunities for people to tell very large stories. 😂
