Another great Toms Autos team weekend at Te Awaiti! 🙌

Once a year we get the crew together — partners, kids and all — for a bit of time away from the workshop, plenty of laughs and some R & R.

And no Te Awaiti weekend would be complete without the annual Toms Autos Te Awaiti World Table Tennis Championship. 🏓

💥 This year Khalid Mason took the title, beating his dad Richard in the final to be crowned Toms Autos Te Awaiti World Table Tennis Champion 👑

💥 Nick took out the highly coveted Consolation Cup 👏

💥 Ben won the biggest keeper fish competition 🐟

💥 It was a real tie breaker in the best cake division between Amy's lovely lemon cake and Stella's decadent chocolate cake. It's fair to say we've all put on a few Kgs taste testing. 🍰

⚠️ This is why you should never ignore noises coming from your vehicle. These brakes could easily have failed at the very next intersection ⚠️

During a routine service, we found these brake rotors dangerously thin and the brake pads worn down to almost nothing.

Once brake pads wear through their friction material and become steel-on-steel, the metal backing plate starts grinding directly against the brake rotor. At that point, things can deteriorate very quickly.

Amazingly, these pads were still sitting in the caliper.

Had the pad worn just a little further and come out, the caliper piston could have overextended or popped out, allowing brake fluid to escape and causing a sudden and serious loss of braking.

Squealing, grinding, scraping or any other unusual noise from your vehicle is there for a reason. Don’t ignore it. Get it checked.

Sometimes the difference between a repair and a dangerous failure is not very much at all.

What a weekend at Rally Hawke’s Bay! 🏁

It was pretty special to see Richard, Sara and the 2005 NZRC-winning Subaru back out competing together again

And the old girl certainly wasn’t there just to make up the numbers! She was an absolute weapon and gave us a pretty good reminder that age is just a number 😁

Unfortunately, an overheating issue eventually forced the team to retire at service rather than risk doing expensive engine damage.

Despite that, they had an absolute blast and loved every minute of being back out there.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to watch, wave, cheer and support them along the way — it was awesome to see so many familiar faces out on the stages. 💙

Safe to say the old girl still has plenty of attitude left in her! 😏🏁
