Sheet Metalcraft Central Ltd are looking for suitably experienced Welder/Fabricators to fill full time permanent positions in their Queenstown workshop.

As part of this role you will be using drawings to complete fabrication & welding work including structural steel, sheetmetal and general fabrication to a high standard.

To be successful in this role you will need at least 2 years of relevant work experience with a comparable employer including:
- Experience with: Fabrication light & heavy.
- Interpretation of 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Experience in structural steel fabrication and installation.
Ability to work unsupervised and within a team.

Applicants for these positions should have NZ Residency, or a valid NZ work visa & be currently living in New Zealand

After an incredible 46 years with Sheet Metalcraft, Ronnie is officially hanging up the tools and heading into retirement.

To say Ronnie has been “part of the furniture” around here would be an understatement. Known by just about everyone in town, Ronnie brought an old school tradesman approach to the job, with a strong work ethic, pride in his workmanship, and a genuine care for doing things properly. He’s one of the few left trained in the traditional methods of sheet metal working, and that knowledge and experience is something pretty special.

Ronnie’s been a huge part of the SMC story, and his presence around the workshop will definitely be missed.

We wish Ronnie and his wife all the very best for a long, healthy, and well earned retirement. Cheers for everything Ronnie.

Not every job is glamorous, but every job gets done right.

This shot, captured by Gel, shows the team working on a Daiken walking floor. A tough job made even tougher by the conditions.

The two lads spent the best part of two weeks on their knees getting it sorted. It’s a good reminder that behind every finished project is a heap of hard graft, patience, and a crew willing to put in the effort when the job demands it.
