🎉🎉 End of Harvest Celebration 🎉🎉

Earlier this week our team and their families got together at our site to celebrate the end of the 2023-2024 Harvest. It's been a big season, with some good weather and a great bunch of people so it was great to get everyone together to thank and appreciate the team's efforts!

Also a big thanks to Rob and the team from Beard Brothers - the sausages and patties went down a treat!

Last month Ōmahu Marae hosted a Matariki celebration weekend for the first time.

Following a day of festivities, the evening concluded with the hapū Matariki Huia awards, which aimed to celebrate the achievements and recognition of individual whānau members. It was a very special occasion providing an opportunity for everyone to unwind and enjoy themselves. Reflecting on the significant journey and the personal impact of whānau, with a special tribute to each recipient for their ongoing manaaki (hospitality and giving) to their community and environment.

We were gifted with a beautiful huia feather style taonga symbolising leadership, mana and sustainable practices.

After a season for the history books we said farewell to our Tongan RSE team last week.

Our Vanuatu and Tongan RSE are an important part of our Apatu Farms team providing support to our permanent and seasonal workforce during our busy periods.

Thanks for everything - we look forward to you returning next season!

🧅Onions double as decorations for orchards and fence lines.
🚚 Caravans aren't all terrain vehicles.
🚽 Porta-loos are top heavy.
🌊 Apple bins fueled with Hydro power can substituted bull dozers.

On a more serious note, the last 3 weeks have been the most difficult our business and community have ever experienced. Our Hawkes Bay whenua has been severely impacted and our community rattled by loss. But we are made strong by our people and it is our people who are leading our recovery.

We can not express enough gratitude to our staff, their families and the wider community who have responded to the impact with such resilience and generosity.

This flood has taken its toll, but we are recovering and will rebuild.... Watch this space.
