HISTORY OF PFS ENGINEERING

PFS Engineering was formed in 1992. The primary objective of the company, was to provide a quality fabrication and services team, for the engineering industry at large. Since 1992, we have grown and built our team of experienced and qualified personnel, to be able to provide clients with quality project management from conception through to completion. We continuously work in an environment that demands pre-established time frames, budget constraints and inspection/test requirements as applicable. October 2000 saw PFS Engineering purchase the plant and machinery from Rolls Royce New Zealand, and February 2001 saw the purchase of the workshops and buildings from Rolls Royce New Zealand situated at 175 Riverlea Road, Hamilton. We are now able to offer our clients a workshop facility in excess of 30,000 square feet including two 25 tonne gantry cranes (50 tonne tandem lift) and two 10 tonne gantry cranes.

Not all complexity is visible.

The Taurapa Pedestrian Cycle Bridge in Hamilton is a striking structure, but some of the most important work happened long before fabrication began.

For projects with complex geometry, challenging installation requirements, or unique architectural features, involving fabrication and construction expertise early can help answer practical questions before work reaches the workshop or site.

In this case, fabrication was driven by a detailed 3D model, enabling each of the modules to be planned and manufactured with precision.

Where do steel projects usually slow down? Common issues we see:

- Tight access not resolved upfront
- Lifting and installation sequencing overlooked
- Tolerances that don’t translate to site

An end-to-end approach is a practical way to reduce risk and keep projects moving.

If you have a steel project in mind, talk to us. We're invested in helping your project come to life.

Our purpose-built facility is at your service.

Our 30,000-square-foot Hamilton facility brings design, fabrication, and finishing together under one roof. Equipped with two 25-tonne gantry cranes (with a 50-tonne tandem lift capability) and two 10-tonne gantry cranes, we can fabricate and handle projects of significant scale and complexity.

For our clients, this means greater control over quality, timing, and sequencing. It reduces reliance on third parties and helps keep projects moving efficiently from concept through to installation.

It's one of the reasons we're able to take on complex engineering challenges and deliver them safely, at high quality, and without the headaches.

Every project starts with an idea, but getting from concept to something that can actually be built is where the real work begins.

At PFS, our dedicated Design department plays a central role in that process. By working through design alongside fabrication and installation, projects are grounded in what will work in the real world.

Just like the three storage vessels delivered to Oji Fibre Solutions, each one built to different requirements.

We call our Design department the keystone of our capability at PFS. It’s the department where ideas are unlocked and transformed into practical, constructible solutions.

Embedding design early using ECI has many advantages; projects are aligned from the outset, we reduce the risk of delays or rework later, and it enables a close, iterative process for when we need to think outside the box.

Spot the enclosure 👀🌿 We’ve sent enclosures to some remote places before, but this one was a first for us.

The customer needed an enclosure fast, and we had the right size in stock ready to go. It’s now mounted to the end of a large pivoting truss extending a water level radar out over a remote river.

Our enclosures are built to last. Whether you’re dealing with space constraints, harsh conditions, or tight timelines, we make it easier to get the enclosure you need without the hassle.

Behind every project is a team that takes ownership of the result.

At PFS Engineering, that means people working together across design, fabrication, and installation, all focused on getting the job done right.

You can see that pride on the shop floor, just like in the friendly faces below. It's in how the job is approached, the attention to detail, and the standard expected before anything leaves the workshop.

Our people. Our work. Our word.

That’s what we stand by, day in, day out.

Not every project gives you space to work with. Tight sites, existing structures, and limited access can quickly add complexity.

An end-to-end design and build process helps manage that risk early. It means constraints are worked through upfront, not discovered on site, especially if you have constraints like tight spaces or hard deadlines.

At PFS, we work through these challenges to keep projects moving. If you have a project in mind, start a conversation with the team.

At PFS, we keep it under one roof. Design, engineering, fabrication, and installation, working as one integrated team, all aligned from day one.

Backed by a purpose-built facility, we’re built to handle complex steel projects at scale, starting at the Design phase.

✅ For project managers, it means fewer moving parts to coordinate.
✅ For contractors, it means a buildable solution from day one.
✅ For asset owners, it means confidence that the job will be delivered, despite constraints.
