Our BBA pumps have been flat out across the country.

Efficient to run and easier on fuel, BBA pumps continue to prove their value on site.

If an older pump in the fleet is due for an upgrade, our BBA trade-in offer is worth a look: https://bit.ly/4shdQih

From construction and civil sites to drainage and dewatering works, flood control and night works, each job brings a different environment and its own challenges — and it’s great seeing the pumps doing what they’re built for, backed by the team who prepare, deliver and keep them running day in and day out.

Frequent clogging.
Premature wear.
Pumps that just don’t deliver.
Sound familiar?

We see it all the time in industrial wastewater.

Once you’re dealing with solids, fibres, fats or chemicals, it’s not just “moving water” anymore — pump selection plays a big role in how things perform day to day.

A lot of the issues we get called in to sort aren’t pump failures.
They come back to how the pump was specified in the first place.

In this guide, we cover:
👉 Common industrial wastewater pump types
👉 What actually drives the right selection
👉 The issues that keep showing up on site

Hire, buy, or lease? It’s a call we see people weighing up all the time.

The wrong call usually turns up later as cost, downtime, or lack of flexibility when gear is underused or not quite right for how the job actually runs.

The question is less about 'do I buy, hire or lease this pump or these pipes' and more about how cost, flexibility, and risk play out across the life of your project.

In this blog, we break down how hire, buy and lease work - and where they can catch you out.

Managing water, slurry and muck is part of the job on most civil sites.

From smaller projects to large or complex ones, it comes down to how the system is set up - and how easy it is for the crew to run.

That’s where we come in.

From a single pump to a full setup, we design and deliver temporary hire solutions that keep projects moving.

Groundwater can be planned for.
It rarely sticks to the plan.

Wellpointing is widely used across NZ construction sites, yet it’s not always fully understood in practice.

Our latest blog explains how it works on site - and when it’s the right fit for your project.

Auto-priming centrifugal or piston pump?

The choice affects more than performance, it affects fuel use, wear, and downtime on site.

Different pump designs handle air and changing inflow very differently.

Our latest blog explains the practical differences - and how BBA Pumps’ engineering supports reliability and lower operating costs on civil projects across NZ. Read it here:

Workshop Wednesday 🔧

On the bench this week — a buildup of an Alpha Pompe open impeller 03RA-SG-T, coupled to a Teco 2.2kW 3-phase motor and configured. Alphas are self-priming pumps, and this unit is destined to be part of a dairy effluent management system.

As part of the build process, our workshop team set the clearances to specification, assembled the unit in-house and pressure tested it to confirm seal integrity and performance before moving it through paint and final dispatch preparation.

Workshop love their build-ups. There’s nothing like tailoring something from start to finish.

Most pumping problems don’t start with the pump – they start with the fluid.

Thick oils, changing temperatures, and accuracy-critical processes can cause issues that other pump types struggle to handle.
That’s where gear pumps are typically specified – delivering consistent, positive displacement flow for demanding applications like waste oil transfer, lubrication systems, and chemical dosing.

We’ve put together a practical guide about gear pumps and how they make the biggest difference across NZ industries.
