Late last month, our field team headed to Christchurch to join agronomists from across New Zealand for the ICD Group's annual Winter Conference.

Canadian spray experts Tom Wolf and Jason Deveau are leading a series of Sprayers 101 workshops organised by FAR, in the first two weeks of August. In this episode of Cut the Crop, they say they will be discussing everything from water volume and droplet size to spray pressure, while raising a note of caution on drone spraying.

The Rural Roadie is coming to a rugby club near you TOMORROW!

The SBS Bank Southland Stags will once again take rugby directly to communities across the province as part of the annual Rural Roadie on Tuesday, July 7, proudly supported by Advance Agriculture and Regional Ford.

The Stags squad splits into four groups and will travel to eight rural rugby clubs across Southland.

*Please note that due to wet conditions Maruawai College Sports Canopy has replaced Albion Rugby Club as alocation, still at 3.30pm. Thank you so much to Māruawai College for opening up their fantastic facility for us. Please sneakers and gym shoes only on this surface, no boots please.

The 2026 Rural Roadie schedule is:
• Drummond Rugby Club – 1.15pm
• Wyndham Rugby Club – 1.30pm
• Riversdale Rugby Club – 1.45pm
• Otautau Rugby Club – 1.45pm
• Mossburn Rugby Club – 2.45pm
• Waiau Star Rugby Club – 3.00pm
• Tokanui Rugby Club – 3.00pm
• Maruawai College Sports Canopy – 3.30pm

The visits are all about connecting with the next generation of players, with Stags team members running fun rugby activities, sharing skills and stories, signing posters and spending time with local children and families.

Left unmanaged, ragwort can reduce pasture utilisation and pose serious animal health risks, particularly in cattle grazed paddocks.
