Meet the people behind Art of Wood.
Carbatec New Zealand's story started when Grant's father David visited a Carbatec store in Australia and came away impressed enough to bring the concept home. Over 20 years on, Grant and Jacqui run the business together, with son Cameron part of the family team too.
What they enjoy most is the community itself, meeting makers in the shop, at club meetings, and at the Wood Expo. They love hearing what people are working on, and finding ways to help. "Woodworkers are not just passionate," Jacqui says, "they are generous too, with their knowledge, and even their own work.”
Jacqui has recently been drawn into turning herself, currently working through stage 2 training and making bowls. Grant has turned his hand to furniture and fittings for the store, and once restored a classic car dashboard. Cameron turns wooden and acrylic pens that make excellent presents.
It's always a great feeling when a customer says Carbatec is their happy place, or like a candy shop, the same feeling David had all those years ago. Carbatec is proud to be the main sponsor of Art of Wood, backing a community they've long been part of.
