It was great to host members of the Auckland Structural Group (ASG) at the National Storage project in Mt Albert last week.

Members got a closer look at the structural systems and engineering behind this three-storey facility with a guided walkthrough from the design engineer exploring the thinking behind key design decisions, construction sequencing, and the live installation of structural steel, ComFlor® composite flooring and shear studs.

Attendees also saw first-hand the benefits of ComFlor®, including the efficiency of unpropped construction, allowing follow-on trades to get underway sooner without delay. The tour also showcased the range of structural systems used throughout the project, including precast panels and eccentrically braced frames (EBFs).

Thanks to ASG, National Storage NZ, the Macrennie Commercial Construction site team and MSC Consulting Engineers for sharing their time and expertise.

In our latest case study, we take a closer look at the waterfront landmark on 2 Devonport Road, Tauranga, and explore how our integrated ComFlor® and reinforcing solution supported the delivery of this complex mixed-use development. Working alongside CBC Construction, Beca and Wingates, Steel & Tube supplied approximately 7,300m² of ComFlor® composite flooring and 107 tonnes of reinforcing steel, backed by early technical collaboration and coordinated project delivery.

It's a reminder that the right structural solution doesn't just influence the finished building—it can improve efficiency, streamline construction, and deliver benefits that extend well beyond structural performance.
