🙉Shocked by fuel prices?
Not much you can do about these.
What you can do is take steps to ensure your vehicle uses as little fuel as possible. These are:
🔅Clear out the extra clutter
Carrying extra items weighing as little as 45kg can reduce fuel efficiency.
Clear out forgotten backpacks, sports equipment and extra books, and you’ll be amazed at how things add up. Don’t forget about the outside of your car, too.
o Roof racks
o Cargo boxes
o Bike racks
At open road speeds, empty bike and roof racks can reduce fuel economy by as much as 11%.
🔅Limit idling
Did you know that idling uses more fuel than restarting your car and gives off 80% more pollution than when your car is in motion.
The next time you come to a stop and are waiting for someone, or traffic lights etc. consider turning off your engine to save on fuel.
🔅Keep your speed steady and within the speed limit
After reaching 70-80 kmph, your car begins to lose fuel efficiency. And the faster you go, the worse it gets. It’s best to drive at the speed limit and use cruise control when possible.
🔅Check your tyre pressure
When your tyres are underinflated, fuel consumption can increase by as much as 3%.
Check your owner’s manual or the tyre wall for the correct pressure for your car.
🔅Perform regular maintenance
If your vehicle is regularly maintained, it will be more efficient and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
Dirty air filters, spark plugs and connections can all affect fuel economy, some say as much as up to 4%.
❗️A faulty oxygen sensor can increased consumption by as much as an eye watering 40%.
However you look at it, regular servicing of your vehicle pays off.
