At Globe Power’s US facility, containers arrive loaded with heavy solar lighting equipment ready for distribution across the country.

When establishing its US operation, Globe Power needed a way to unload containers directly from truck chassis without relying on cranes or other third-party lifting equipment.

The team initially invested in a Bison M Series, giving them the independence to lift and ground containers on site, on their own schedule.

Since then, Globe Power has expanded its container handling capability with a Bison X Series, providing an even faster solution for transferring containers from truck to ground.

It’s always meaningful to see where Bison equipment ends up and the work it helps make possible.

Our customer recently shared some footage from the Kumamoto region of Japan, where their team is supporting communities affected by earthquakes by providing comfortable restroom facilities to disaster-stricken areas.

The Bison M Series is being used as part of their deployment, helping them get these facilities where they are needed.

For Gulf Helium Services (GHS), a fixed overhead gantry crane was limiting where containers could be serviced across their facility.

With the Bison A Series, their team can now unload and position 40' helium ISO containers across different areas of the site, extending their servicing and maintenance capacity and removing container handling as a bottleneck.

The flexibility has also created a new revenue opportunity, with GHS offering container handling as a service to its customers.

We’re hiring!

We’re looking for a Product & Support Engineer to join our team in Dunedin.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys understanding how machines work, solving technical problems and working directly with the equipment they support.

You’ll become one of Bison’s key product experts, working closely with our customers and our sales, production and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, test equipment, develop technical documentation and training, and help improve our products over time.

We’re looking for someone with an engineering background or strong practical technical experience, whether that’s in mechanical, mechatronics or electrical engineering, field service, industrial maintenance, machinery commissioning or manufacturing.

In return, you’ll get to work with innovative equipment designed and manufactured right here in Dunedin and used by customers in more than 70 countries around the world.

How do you lift shipping containers indoors?

Cranes and reach stackers are common choices for handling ISO containers outside, but inside a factory or warehouse, things can get more complicated.

Limited access, ceiling height, operating space, diesel fumes and fixed infrastructure can all influence how containers can be handled.

Portable container lifts offer a different approach.

By attaching directly to the container’s corner castings, they allow teams to lift containers vertically from trucks or trailers, lower them onto the floor or dollies, and reposition them around a facility.
