Sam Wright- North Island Stock Car Champion

Huge congratulations to Hitech Motorsport mechanic and fabricator Sam, claiming the top step of the podium last night in Rotorua and taking the North Island champs!

Sam does most of the work and preparation on the car himself, and it is one of the fastes, best presented, stock cars in New Zealand. It runs a full package of Link Engine management products, including a G4X ecu, Razor PDM, and dash display.

Well done Sam on an awesome result!

It’s a busy time of the year…

We have been so busy at Hitech, with speedway and circuit racing now in full swing, rallying still going too. Here’s a bit of an update of what we have been working on over the past month, Perfomance road cars, race rally and speedway vehicles, and some cool old cars too.

-Humber 80, this is an old pre 65 car, one of the original North Island cars campaigned in the late 1980s, early 1990s by our good friend and long time customer Charles Rollo. Charles tracked the car down, and we have just finished the restoration and recommission of this car, including a full mechanical rebuild, engine, gearbox, diff, brakes and a full reassembly and prep for some upcoming events

-Honda integra B18 turbo GTRNZ series car to finish the wiring of a Link Ecu, Pdm, dash install, dyno tuning and also full race preparation, full set up and alignment, and service ready to turn some laps shortly

-Kruz Scott’s Honda civic in for some prep and maintenance, after a strong weekend at Manfield, serviced, full set up and alignment, ready for GT3 at Hampton downs next weekend

-Peter’s EVO 8 wide body targa car, upgraded turbo, manifold, exhaust and fuel system, retune of the Motec ecu

-Jamie’s 96A 1UZ super stock in for an ignition system upgrade, new Link G4X ecu, coils and a retune, solid power and torque gains for the best block man in the country!

OLD OR NEW?

Both ends of the automotive spectrum at Hitech Motorsport over the last few weeks, some 1950/1960/1970s classics, through to some of the latest 2020s European and Japanese turbo technology.

The last few weeks has seen some very different cars through the doors, probably the most diverse range of cars and devices we’ve seen for a while!

-1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia in for a rebuild of the Weber DCOE carburettors, 123 programmable ignition system and sorting a few other issues, before tuning everything to make the car a nice weekend cruiser

-1960 Austin A40, in for a Link ecu install, wiring and tuning. This car has a pretty trick 1380cc motor with a 7 port alloy head, Jenvey throttle bodies, fuel injection and crank trigger ignition, this is a cool old race car

-1974 BMW 2002, very tidy example, in for tuning of the Weber DCOE side draft carbs and 123 ignition system for the boys at International Motorsport

-2005 WRX STI in to sort some mechanical issues, a full service, performance upgrades and a tune on the dyno of the factory ECU. Solid 30 kilowatt gain, with improved response, torque and power throughout the range

-2023 Audi RS3 in for rally prep for Targa, full service, intercooler and exhaust upgrades, followed by installation and dyno tuning of a Syvecs plug in ecu/electronics package

-Honda Civic EK K24 Honda cup race car in for configuration, set up and tuning of a new Motec M1 ecu, pdm and C125 dash.

-Kia Stinger GT, in for a full service, performance upgrades, JB4 ecu install and dyno tuning, some impressive gains with some simple modifications. 90 kilowatt gain with a subtle retune!

-2021 Honda Civic Type R in for a retune using Hondata software on the dyno

Got an old classic that needs sorting, or a modern performance car that needs a bit more go? Get in touch , we have the skills, knowledge and expertise to get your prize and joy performing at its best!

LINK G5 Voodoo Neo 4 & 6 is Here

Here is the first look at the newest additions to the G5 Voodoo range, launching Friday, July 11.

Available now from Hitech Motorsport- Contact us to purchase or for more information!

Available in two versions, the G5 Voodoo Neo brings all the motorsport and engine management features of the G5 Voodoo Pro to a wide range of 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines and applications, with a focus on speed and flexibility, and making direct injection more accessible than ever.

The G5 Voodoo Neo comes in two versions, with options to suit a wide range of engines.

The G5 Voodoo Neo 4 can run:
• 6 cylinders port or direct injection and direct spark, or
• 4 cylinders with direct/port staged injection, and direct spark.

The G5 Voodoo Neo 6 can run:
• 8 cylinders port or direct injection and direct spark, or
• 6 cylinders with direct/port staged injection, and direct spark.

Direct Injection (DI) requires an external OEM or aftermarket DI Driver box, such as Link’s DI Driver-4. Check out more on this video:

It’s been a while…

We have been so busy at Hitech, but here’s a bit of an update of what we have been working on over the past week, something old, something new…

-Datsun 280Z IMSA replica, finished up just in time for GTR festival. We finished the tuning of the Motec ecu, set up the dash and electronics and owner Grant gave the car its first shakedown after a lengthy build

-Subaru WRX STI back on the dyno to finish the tuning of the Motec ECU, after a turbo upgrade and now making the boost and power it need to

- Former NZV8 Commodore being prepped to race in GTRNZ GT2, getting some maintenance and repairs after sitting in storage for a few years

-Kruz Scott’s Honda civic in for some off season prep and maintenance, and some secret upgrades to keep it at the front of GT3 next season

-Tony’s K24 EK civic getting some more sensors wired to the Link G4X ecu for data logging, a fuel system upgrade - surge tank, pump and injectors. Will be on the dyno for tuning soon

-MGA at Hitech to sort the SU carbs and ignition system. It now runs and drives really well after fixing a lot of little issues

-Jaguar E type in to get up and running, serviced and road legal again after sitting in storage for 5 years. This one will be for sale soon, if anyone is looking for a tidy old E type

Weekly wrap up!

Busy week in the workshop, with circuit racing still happening and also the rally season underway, this week has seen an influx of gravel cars getting ready to throw rocks, as well as prepping circuit cars for Hampton Downs, and a few classic and performance cars too!

We were too busy to photograph everything that’s been through our doors this week, but here’s a snapshot:

-Subaru WRX rally car in to tune the Motec ecu, and set up Motec dash, pdm, diff control, etc for the boys at Speedhub Motorsport

-Toyota Yaris Proto rally car, for the team at DNG Automotive. Previously set up for Targa events, it’s here to also tune the Motec Ecu, now on a 36mm restrictor and set up the diff control, etc for gravel events.

-Mitsi EVO 6.5 Tommy Makkinen in the workshop for some minor performance upgrades such as fuel pump and injectors, and then a retune of the ecu to suit a rebuilt engine with Kelford cams, forged internals, etc

-1969 Ford Mustang 390, already converted to efi, but set up and running poorly on the current “self tuning” ecu. We are re-wiring and fitting a Link G4X ecu to this car, so it will run a lot better than when in came in to our workshop

-47A F2 speedway midget in for a health check and some off season maintenance on the Hitech Motorsport built Nissan SR20 engine, after winning several features this season and finishing 2nd in the championship.

-Caterham 420R in for a retune of the MBE ecu, before receiving some upgrades to the Ford Duratech engine.
