It was an incredible night for Raylight Aluminium and the team at Nulook® West Christchurch, with Cotters Lane taking out the Supreme Award at the 2026 WGANZ Design Awards.

This is the highest accolade bestowed on the night – and a powerful endorsement of a project that exemplifies what can be achieved when craftsmanship, innovation, and collaboration come together at the highest level.

From the careful restoration of a damaged heritage structure to the delivery of complex, high-performance glazing solutions, every element of this project speaks to precision, dedication, and vision.

To see this work not only recognised, but elevated to the top honour, is incredibly fitting.

Huge congratulations to Andrew, Chris, Petr, and the exceptional Raylight Aluminium team at Nulook® West Christchurch – Winners of the Commercial - South Island category at the 2026 Design Awards for their Cotters Lane project.

This is an outstanding and richly deserved win for a team that has delivered something truly special. Damaged in the earthquakes and left to rot, the Raylight team helped breathe new life into Cotters Lane in the most extraordinary way.

The result is a masterclass in craftsmanship, collaboration, and technical excellence – showcasing just how powerful great joinery can be in elevating architecture. From the breathtaking upper-level curtain wall to the finest detailing, every element reflects a deep respect for the building’s history while pushing performance and design forward.

We couldn’t be prouder to see this recognised on a national stage. Massive congratulations again to the entire team – an incredible achievement and so richly deserved.

Team work makes the dream work.

Huge congrats to Andrew, Chris, Petr, and the Raylight Aluminium team at Nulook® West Christchurch. Their outstanding regenerative work done as part of the restoration of Cotters Lane, has just been named as a Finalist in the 2026 WGANZ Design Awards (Commercial – South Island category).

This landmark Christchurch project showcases the sensitive integration of contemporary aluminium joinery within a restored heritage façade. Working closely with the architect and builder, Raylight Aluminium delivered bespoke glazing solutions – including a striking upper‑level curtain wall spanning nearly 10 metres and rising 5.2 metres – combining precision detailing, Low‑E performance glazing, and integrated aluminium louvres. Together with the reinstated Central Arcade, the project balances architectural memory, modern performance, and long‑term
Durability.

Well done to the team – this is a powerful example of craftsmanship, technical excellence, and heritage‑led regeneration in an urban context.
