We’re proud to acknowledge the work of BMC Director Matt Williams in his role as Chair of the Mount Aspiring College (MAC) Foundation.
Under Matt’s leadership, the Foundation has secured a $100,000 grant from the Elsie and Ray Armstrong Charitable Trust to launch its Endowment Fund. This fund will provide lasting support for Upper Clutha students and their families, covering essentials like uniforms, devices, and camp fees.

The Elsie and Ray Armstrong Charitable Trust recently announced a grant of $100,000 to seed the Te Kura o Tititea Mount Aspiring College (MAC) Foundation’s Endowment Fund.
Armstrong Trust trustee Simon Telfer says the Trust helps those in the Upper Clutha community who are disadvantaged and need extra assistance.
“We have been in discussions with the MAC Foundation over the last few months and appreciate their hard work in supporting school whānau with the costs of uniforms, devices, camp fees and health services both now and for generations to come.”
Chair of the MAC Foundation Matt Williams says the Foundation was thrilled to receive the grant.
“The Foundation has just launched its Endowment Fund to create long-term sustainable financial returns for the benefit of the school.
“This initial grant from the Armstrong Trust is extremely generous and gives us enviable momentum towards achieving our initial goal of a $1 million fund.”
Everyone at MAC is very grateful to the Elsie and Ray Armstrong Charitable Trust for its generous grant, and to the MAC Foundation for its important work in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the college.
