With an aim to cut down on the use of steel, our structural team engineered this beautiful open space using specifically detailed plywood roof and shear walls. 📋🏠

Murney Building, Ashburton - GOLD 🥇✨
"A functioning work of structural art" this building is one of a kind. A jewel of Ashburton, sitting proudly as a beacon for the CBD. Marrying contemporary architecture with heritage materials, copper and timber detailing, this building homes commercial spaces, The Fine Lion bar and a private family area including a roof top BBQ lounge. This was a complex project for our team with its tight site, small footprint to height ratio meant innovative structural solutions were a necessity. "A standout feature of the building is cantilevered balcony to the north and west façade." (TMCo - full suite of engineering.)

DARC Factory, Christchurch - BRONZE 🥉✨
TMCo's Structural, Civil, Fire, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulics team worked together with the client, architect and contractors to achieve a new generation of energy efficient building. Marrying the use of high thermal mass and utilising solar energy, leaving boundaries in their wake and leading the way to more innovative, sustainable buildings with greater longevity. Welcoming Mike, our newest member of the services BIM team, (sorry you've been robbed of the "Newest" title so soon Richard 😄), and we're back to four Mikes/Michaels working in TMCo's Christchurch office! So please, if you call, make sure you know which Mike you're after 😅!

Mike started his CAD career back in 2011, ambitious and striving to learn more he delved deeper into the realms of BIM in 2013. Mike loves working within a team and helping share his extensive knowledge by teaching others. Feeling accomplished when celebrating project success achieved by the massive team efforts behind every successful design, fitout and building!

While Mike was not named after Michael Owen, Jordan or Schumacher, he probably should've been named after a combination of all three since Mike is quite the car enthusiast, and a huge basketball and football fan. A proud Liverpool FC supporter since 1997 after he wrote to Michael Owen and received a written response! Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, Hayley, and Wally (when he can find him 🤓😄).
