We are proud to share that 55 Bridge Street has been named in the shortlist for the Nelson & Marlborough Architecture Awards. The shortlisted projects were selected from entries submitted to the Nelson and Marlborough Branch of Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects.
Key features of this building include:
• Structural LVL timber elements sourced locally from Nelson Pine.
• A seismic design that exceeds code requirements, allowing for future hazard model updates.
• A suspended ground floor slab designed to address contaminated soils and a high water table.
• 80 perforated and folded aluminium panels providing visual privacy and effective sun shading.
The building was designed by local architects Irving Smith Architects, managed by Aesculus Project Management, built by Coman Construction, Barnes Beagley Doherr Ltd, Jackson Engineering Advisers Ltd and Structex. The new building will soon achieve a NABERS rating, reflecting our commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable construction.
