Applications for a Metalwork/Steel Site Rigger ideally with experience in handling finished products i.e balustrades, Handrails, Stairs (including Spirals & Ellipticals).

Progress is well underway on our current build at Hanleys Farm School in Queenstown — a new Year 0–8 school that will support the growing Hanleys Farm community. 👏

The structural steel is going up, and it’s exciting to see the project starting to take shape against the stunning backdrop of the Remarkables. 🏔️

Both roles involve overseeing the successful delivery of structural steel projects — from planning through to installation and completion.

You will be responsible for managing project timelines, site operations, subcontractors, health & safety, and ensuring quality outcomes that meet VIP Steel’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities include

✅Managing the direction, schedule, and progress of commercial and residential structural steel projects.

✅Coordinating project timelines, resources, and workflows across fabrication and installation teams.

✅ Monitoring project performance to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are achieved.

✅Strong technical knowledge of commercial and/or residential construction projects.

✅The ability to problem solve and provide practical solutions.

This role acts as the face of the office and provides friendly meeting and greeting of clients, staff, and suppliers. The role is responsible for tending to telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries, and for completing all general administration tasks in support of office, workshop, and site administration requirements.

✅ Previous reception or admin experience with a strong understanding of day-to-day office requirements
✅Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
✅ Ability to communicate effectively, build positive working relationships and adapt to team dynamics
✅Workbench and or Timecloud are an advantage
✅ Ability to work both autonomously and part of a team

With more than 20 years’ experience in New Zealand’s steel industry, Mark brings extensive sector knowledge and industry expertise to the role. Mark is also a passionate advocate for Christchurch and its ongoing growth and development, and he is the current Chair of Steel Construction New Zealand.

At VIP, Mark’s focus will be on safety, people and culture, helping to enhance operational excellence, strengthen commercial performance, and develop a strong, aligned team.

A great milestone for the team at Park Ridge Development, Queenstown. 🏗️

Our new IVECO truck teamed up with the Palfinger HIAB for its very first lift — placing the first piece of structural steel on the Cook Brothers Construction site.

Massive effort from Liam, Ben, and driver/operator Eddie getting the job done against an epic Queenstown backdrop. ⛰️🔥

🏗️ Big progress happening in Wānaka!

The Southern Lakes team is proud to be bringing the new Best Start Preschool to life, with the structural steel now taking shape on site.

Structural Steel now well underway on site — turning plans into a space that will soon support learning, play, and connection for local families.

This project is being delivered in collaboration with Cook Brothers Construction and we’re looking forward to reaching the next milestones together.

A massive effort from everyone involved so far — great teamwork, great progress, and plenty more to come.
