Meccanico Meccanico specialises in heavy lifting and levelling. Our South Island head office is in Christchurch, our North Island head office is in Auckland.

We are mechanical jacking specialists operating throughout New Zealand – including Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. Meccanico also undertakes Seismic Base Isolation, Structural and Earthquake Strengthening. We perform heavy vertical lifting and levelling for any large, heavy structure or load which needs to be moved. This includes Commercial and Industrial buildings, warehouses, bridges, ships,large historic/heritage buildings, churches and multi-level multi-unit buildings such as hotels and apartment buildings.

Mechanico was engaged to restore a commercial building on Auckland’s North Shore after it experienced significant subsidence of approximately 140mm.
Our team carried out a full excavation and underpinning programme, installing engineered slabs designed to support a controlled structural lift. Using our certified computer-controlled synchronized lifting system, we carefully jacked the building back to level with millimetre accuracy.
Once re-leveled, the structure was fully re-strengthened at the foundations, ensuring long-term stability and performance.

Last week, .co.nz completed a Pool Jacking and Strengthening project on the 4th floor of a hotel, located in the C*D. The client had already completed a full refurbishment of the pool area, when they realised the current props had failed. .co.nz were then engaged to carry out the delicate task of jacking the pool 1mm, in order to remove the props and make space for the new props that would then be grouted in place. Although this project was extremely difficult, our vast experience in commercial jacking, with our synchronised system meant we had the confidence to achieve the desired expectations of the project engineers.

Over the past few months .co.nz and .nz have been working on the Bridge on Wairoa River in Tauranga as Part of the Northen Express Link. The new bridge had suffered from settlement on 4 piers during the initial construction phase. Meccanico was required to jack at each pier with 6x 250tonne locking jacks, using a synchronised lifting and levelling system to control the loads and lift to target heights so that the central concrete beams could be poured.

Massive Tunnel jacking job carried out by our commercial division, .co.nz… The Britomart tunnel was being widened, to accommodate a new train line, as the Metro Line below Auckland City was being upgraded for faster trains. The main tunnel wall which was 400mm thick was supporting the load of a fifteen-storey building above it. Meccanico undertook the engineering works, which included the designing of the temporary structural steel to support the demolition but more importantly the methodology and calculations of the technical jacking of the existing wall and the transferring of the load onto the new wall. With months of preparation, the job was executed accurately and efficiently for Martinus Rail , NZTA and Kiwi Rail.

Our latest investment has been a significant one. Consisting of x 20 250t double acting locking jacks. This will now increase of companies capacity to carrying not only the most advanced lifting system in the South Pacific but now our inventory has been boosted to stock the most jacks with the most capacity in NZ. These new jacks will be used with our commercial company .co.nz hydraulics to jack the Britomart Tunnel in the Auckland metro line. The tunnel requires widening for the new faster trains soon to be released into Auckland. We have been working on this project now for 12 months with an international team of engineers. We have flown to Amsterdam to undertake an in depth training session with our partner Holmatro as the scope for this next project is taking our technical ability to another level. Keep watching as I look to show you some further steps forward as we get closer to the lifting date.

.co.nz, initially began work on this 100 tonne bridge 8 months ago. It had to be jacked up because it was within the sea spray zone, which was decaying its structural integrity.
Now that sandblasting and new paint repairs have been completed, we have been able to lower the structure down and it is now good to go .co.nz .nz
