This John Deere 331G kitted out with a Sharpgrade G116 blade and Topcon MC mobile was recently delivered to the legends at Ongrade Drainage & Excavation Ltd here in Canterbury.

This is the first 331G Deere to be released into the South Island wilderness and to be fitted up with the latest in machine control technology making this one special unit. Direct feedback from the talented operator, stating the immediate increase in productivity and efficiency has been well received and the addition to the fleet was well worth it.

Big shout out to the team at Ongrade Drainage for choosing John Deere and partnering with Drummond & Etheridge. Topcon system supplied, installed and supported by the Synergy Positioning team and Sharpgrade blade supplied by SharpGrade.

Congratulations to Lee Logging who recently took delivery of their new John Deere 959MH fitted with a Waratah Forestry 624C processing head.

This 959MH is the first IBC (Intelligent Boom Control) tracked harvester into Australasia. With IBC operators no longer need to control each independent boom function separately. One joystick moves the boom tip horizontally, while a second guides it vertically, and IBC automatically guides the boom and cylinders accordingly. IBC also automatically controls swing speed based on the overall position of the attachment.

Thanks to the DnE Rolleston team for all the efforts to get this machine out in a timely manner for the customer.

The John Deere X9 has finally made its way back to New Zealand since pre covid days and upon its return, not only has it met expectations but it has exceeded them.

The X9 being designed to meet the challenges faced by many farmers today. Factors such as fuel price increases, labour shortages, tough crop conditions and short harvest windows. The X9 has stood up to these challenges and proving to provide farmers with piece of mind at harvest.

This X9 1100 is fitted with an HD45X platform and has been smashing out the hectares. Hitting outstanding tonnes per hour and fuel burn numbers with minimal losses all while maintaining a clean sample in the tank.

Finally got myself a drone, now to master flying it while taking some good footage without getting it stuck in a tree or swallowed up by a combine.

A wee snippet of some of the Forestry gear we have sitting at our Rolleston branch ready to get into the bush and drop some timber.

A drive to the scenic Hanmer Springs today to catch up with Louis from Future Proof your Business who recently took delivery of the ultimate compact tracked loader package.
This Deere 325G with a 4 in 1 bucket, power rake and vibration roller attachment have been stamping their mark on the North Canterbury region. Louis is over the moon with his machine and states it is “sensational to drive, with plenty of power and so much comfort with plenty of features”. Having the option for such a large range of attachments to suit these machines they truly are a supersized Swiss Army knife.

No hills to climb for this customer visit, catching up with Lee Logging at Balmoral forest where they are tidying up some wind blown trees with the use of their 959 tracked harvester and a 1210E forwarder.
I was fortunate enough to go for a ride in the forwarder and certainly was an experience to see how this specific operation runs so efficiently with only 3 operators and 5 machines.

It was also very reassuring to hear that these John Deere Construction and Forestry customers are in great hands with some outstanding feedback for the technicians they rely so heavily on to keep their operations up and running.

After a steep walk up the hill the view was well worth it to catch these Deere machines in action, the 959ML levelling shovel logger and 848L-II grapple skidder making the dream work.
Both machines providing plenty of power, yet efficient on fuel with running the JD 9.0L engines and offering outstanding operator comfort.
Thanks to the team at Sharples Logging for having us out on site to check out their current operation at Port Levy where we managed to get off the hill just in time as the lighting started rolling in.
