Franklin Engineering Services is better than ever.

Allow me to share with you the answer to your hardest engine questions. You may not have heard of Johnson’s Piston Rings, but they are a rare, specialized powerhouse that has been part of our legacy here at Franklin Engineering since the 1920s.

We are preserving a dying art. Today, we stand as the ONLY place in all of New Zealand that still manufactures piston rings in-house. Whether it’s a bespoke build or a rare vintage find, if you need it, we manufacture it.

The Johnson Way:

Challenge Accepted: We dare you to bring us a job we can't handle. If it can't be found, we make it.
Metal Reclaiming: For the vintage enthusiasts, we can reclaim engine block metal in our specialized Arc Spray Room—bringing worn/corroded blocks back to life.
One-Stop Shop: If we aren't custom-making them for you, we're sourcing them; we can provide 3-piece oil rings for any and all models.

Well… this is mildly embarrassing.

After what feels like an engine rebuild-level downtime, we’re finally back online. Turns out we’re a lot better with crankshafts than keyboards.

Give us a seized engine, no worries.
Ask us to fix the website? Different story 😅

Anyway — Franklin Engineering Services is back up and running (digitally AND mechanically). If your engine needs a second life, you know who to call.

We promise we’ll stick to what we’re good at… mostly.
