Beattys Industrial Balancing Division recently delivered specialist onsite balancing services at the iconic Auckland Sky Tower for Holmes Solutions.

Working at height, our team balanced the Sky Tower Jump cable drum to Grade 6.3 at 750 Rpm, ensuring smooth, safe, and reliable operation at one of New Zealand’s most recognised landmarks.

Industrial balancing is about more than reducing vibration. It’s about safety, reliability, and performance in demanding environments.

With comprehensive in-house capabilities and mobile onsite balancing services, we provide precision solutions for rotating equipment across a wide range of industries - delivering measurable performance improvements, even in the most challenging conditions.

Meet Andrew Stanners – one of Beattys’ longest-serving team members, having been with the company since 1996.

Over his 29 years at Beattys, he has contributed across multiple areas of the business – from operation and design roles to sales and production engineering; gaining a comprehensive understanding of our processes, products, and customers.

In his current position as Technical Manager, Andrew brings a strong focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. He is highly skilled in driveshaft specifying, problem solving, and CAD design, with a proven ability to deliver practical solutions that meet complex technical challenges.

Andrew’s extensive experience, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence continue to make him an invaluable member of the Beattys team.

With four driveshaft balancers and four industrial balancing machines, we cover a wide range of applications. As drivelines spin at higher RPMs than ever, balancing to the finest tolerances is critical. Our equipment delivers precision with simultaneous 4-plane balancing at speeds up to 5000 rpm, with all weights spot welded for an accurate, lasting result.

Beattys’ dynamic balancing services extend beyond drivelines to impellers, fans, rotors and armatures. With in-house machines capable of handling parts up to 4.5 m in diameter or 5 Tonnes, plus mobile on-site support, we deliver solutions wherever you need them.

Beattys is proud to have delivered the Turret 35 marine cardan shaft system for Voodoo Yachts’ 22.8m performance catamaran - connecting 1600hp from twin MTU engines through ZF gearboxes to the Hamilton waterjet propulsion units.

The result? A record-breaking run: 1,170 nautical miles from the Bay of Islands to the Gold Coast in just 36 hours.

Designed and manufactured in NZ, this is precision marine engineering at its best.

We’re proud to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our production team on the successful completion of this comprehensive Cardan Shaft rebuild for a heavy-duty Metal Shredder Plant.

This complex project involved a full disassembly and inspection, precision machining, and complete overhaul, delivered on time and to meet OEM specifications.

Scope of Work Included:
✅Detailed assessment and inspection report by Beattys technicians
✅Overhaul process developed and communicated to the client
✅Manufacture and installation of new telescopic spine assembly
✅Supply and replacement of heavy-duty 4-point l**e universal joints assemblies
✅Dynamic balancing to ISO1940 G6.3 and application of 2-pack industrial coating

Driveshaft Specifications:
✅Torque Rating: 225,000Nm
✅Length: 2740LZ
✅Flange Diameter: 350mm
✅Operating Angle: 3°
