Fabrication is only half of what we do. This is one of a set of custom knurled k***s taking shape on our lathe, machined in-house from 316 stainless along with matching pad eyes for a boat canopy.

On the water, the small fittings can take a lot of punishment: salt spray, constant load, and wet hands that still need a firm grip. Making them ourselves means the fit is exact, the finish carries through from the rest of the build, and nothing on board is a "that'll do" compromise.

Bespoke boats rarely come with off-the-shelf answers, so we make our own.

Davits are kind of our thing. If you're carrying a tender, you'll want one that looks like it was always meant to be there.

We believe that the best custom fabrication doesn't scream for attention ... it just looks like it belongs. This one was designed by director, Steve to follow the lines of the boat, built to do the heavy lifting, and finished to look like it was always part of the original design.

Strong where it counts. Subtle everywhere else.

Twin outboards don't leave much room for negotiation. A tender needs to live somewhere above them, secure enough to handle open water, low enough not to look awkward, and clear of everything moving below.

This custom 316 stainless tender frame does exactly that, built around the motors, not despite them. The tender sits clean, the arch keeps it off the engines, and the whole setup looks like it was always part of the boat. It wasn't. But that's the whole point.

Not every job turns heads at the marina. But in ten years, this one will have saved your paint job getting scratched beyond recognition.

We fabricated a custom 316L stainless chafe plate, mirror polished and fitted to the swim platform on the stern. Its job is simple but important, keeping the boat from washing around in its berth while protecting the hull from the kind of clip and line damage that quietly ruins gelcoat and paint over time.

On a hot sunny day, shade feels like pure heaven.

On this recent superyacht project, we fabricated and installed custom 316 stainless poles to carry a shade canvas the full length of the deck, strong enough to handle the load and slim enough to stay out of view. Sometimes the best fabrication is the kind you don't notice until you're standing under it on a hot day.

Now everyone on board can actually enjoy the deck, shade and sun ... without the sunburn.

Sorry, we did warn you. We posted this one before and it got so much love we're back with more shots, because honestly, it deserves it.

Those arched details are hand-crafted mild steel, powder-coated, and designed by the talented Katie at Sticks + Stones. Every baluster made by hand, by our director Steve. It's the kind of detail that stops you on the stairs.

Some projects just stick with you. This is one of them.

A stern rail sounds straightforward until you start adding integrated access gates, a fold-down swim ladder that doubles as part of the safety rail when stowed, and a custom rod holder for a new owner who, unlike his predecessor, has fish to catch.

This one for Weber Marine required everything to work together cleanly. Practical, hardwearing, and built for the marine environment without compromising how the boat looks from the back.

Less chance of an unexpected swim. More chance of landing a fish.

We don't usually share work before it's completed. Partly because we're perfectionists. Partly because nothing beats the finished reveal.

But sometimes a job is so impressive mid-build that you just have to break your own rules.

This is a bow rail we're currently fabricating for Weber Marine and the scale of it speaks for itself. Metres of 316 stainless, every bend calculated, every junction built to take whatever the ocean throws at it.

Still a way to go, but it's already looking the part.

Protection doesn't have to be an eyesore.

Swipe to see where we started. The brief was simple, bow protection, functional and hardwearing. Whether it's preventative or the result of an unfortunate encounter with a dock, we hear this one quite a bit. But at Firefish, functional is never really the whole story. We fabricated a custom 316 stainless guard, mirror polished to sit flush against the hull. Does the job brilliantly and importantly, looks mint.

Practical ... and polished. It's the only way we know how to do it.

Oh, and if you check out the last photo, you might spot our director Steve admiring (and capturing) his own handiwork. We can neither confirm nor deny that this was intentional ...
