Project Spotlight | 20 Chalmers Street, Wanaka

This striking four-townhouse development showcases how the right material selection can enhance both aesthetics and performance.

Featuring AliClad™ MAX in Vintage Grey paired with anodised black aluminium panel accents, the façade creates a modern, refined look while standing up to Wanaka's demanding alpine conditions.

We had a fantastic evening at the EBOSS Architectural Movie Night in Wanaka last week.

Great to connect with architects, designers and industry peers, and have some valuable conversations around integrated enclosure systems, façade performance and the future of building design in New Zealand.

Events like these are a great reminder of the value of bringing the industry together. Sharing ideas, learning from one another, and continuing to push the built environment forward.

What if building design started with performance first?

In our recent feature in Straight Up Magazine, we explore a shift in how the building envelope is approached - moving beyond selecting façade materials first, to thinking about how the entire system works together.

How did aluminium cladding go from a trusted solution to a point of concern, and back again?

After major façade fires overseas, many aluminium systems were grouped together and avoided altogether. Solid aluminium quickly became the default.

But over time, its limitations became clear. Issues like oil canning, colour variation, and performance under heat started to reappear.

What followed was a shift in thinking.

It’s no longer about avoiding materials, it’s about understanding them. Testing, compliance, and how systems perform in real-world conditions are what matter most.

Andrew has recently joined The Building Agency as National Sales Manager, bringing 14 years of experience across the construction industry. He’s known for his strong relationship‑building with a solid network across the market, backed by hands‑on experience in the façade and wider construction space.

In this role, Andrew will be working closely with the sales team, with a genuine passion for collaboration and enabling teams to work at a high level. He will be supporting what’s shaping up to be an exciting growth phase for the business, particularly as The Building Agency continues to evolve its product and systems offering.

Alongside his national responsibilities, Andrew will also be looking after the Central Region, staying closely connected to customers and focused on building strong, long‑term partnerships.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys spending time with his partner and their three young children. He likes to stay active and, when time allows, enjoys watching sports and catching live music.
